Brett Favre told the Jets that he wants to retire today. Even though alot of people are going to judge him for his year in New York, he's still my favorite player and one of, if not the greatest, players in NFL history.

Im gunna miss ya Brett, the NFL is not the same anymore.

How long will this retirement last? And will the Jets be in QB limbo while he gets all wishy-washy over the summer? Will he have to leave NY the way he did GB? With a bad taste for everyone involved? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of retired or not!

He started out OK. The Jets just suck. I'll agree with Jeff, I bet the Jets wish they had Pennington and the Dolphins had a feather in their ass. They'd both be tickled. :D

My opinion is I think he is done for good this time, he has had an outstanding career, and i think he will be missed in the football nation.

Yep, Pennington really showed up and played this season. Plus they would have QB security so to speak. They should have (and probably did) known the risk they were taking in signing someone like Favre. I always like him, though, and I hope he truly has made his mind up and doesn't regret it down the road and try to enter one more time.

They took a risk, and it wasnt a HUGE mistake like you said

Pennington would not have played like he did if he was still in New York, the change of scene and the fact that the Jets "pitched him out" made him play with a chip on his shoulder.

Brett Favre made the Jets a better team. He struggled immensily late in the year, but he weas playing with a torn muscle in his arm, not to mention he was with a new team. Do you realize how difficult it is to win 9 games with a brand new team after 16 years starting with another? Look at Warner in NYG, or Montana with the Cheifs. Yes, he relied on TJ to score Td's, but cowardly TJ would have played like crap this year if Pennington was still struggling to lead the team.

not sure I agree with this statement ... team chemistry and team philosophy hjave alot to do with the success of a mediocre 1/4back like Pennington ..... I bet he doesn't produce the #s next season he did this season...

The Jets went farther with Favre than I bet they woulda went with Pennington ..IMO
