Since I'm limited to 20 yards in my backyard, it tends to get boring after a while. I live in the desert region of Southern California. Luckily, I'm surrounded by beautiful mountains with the highest population of bighorn sheep. When I have time, I'll take my bow and a target out to the mountains and practice long range shots from different positions. I think it's really fun trying to hit a target 60 yards away while I'm high up on a cliff, or vice versa. Occasionally, I'm lucky enough to see a herd of sheep and tons of jackrabbits. Where do you guys like to target practice? Do you ever try shots at different elevations?
My backyard. I can shoot up to 80 yards. I am currently working on getting the place set up to be a nice range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
can get about 25 yards in my side yard but am fortunate to have a 60 yard outside archery range 5 minutes from work to shoot at lunch time. also heard that tilapia are in the shallows near work so time to get the fishing arrow and add a little tilapia hunting to the pre-season prep
Are you in the high desert? Looks like from that picture around the SR-138 on the back side up near the 15
I shoot long range just down the road from my house. I can walk with my target from my house into the national forest. and There are plenty of deer that are curious to what i am doing.
That's an awesome pic. My scenery isn't as nice as yours but I can go into various cornfields by my house and I'm good to about 1000 yds.
Have about 160acres in my backyard. Set up treestands, McKenzies, block and bag-targets. for practice time. Unfortunately not allot of flat ground for testing new arrows, so I go to my local range for that. They have a outdoor facility that goes to 120yds.
If I had that much property I'm sure I'd do the same thing haha. The only range by my house only has 20 yard targets
That picture reminds me of my block target on the side of my house! Really narrow area but at least I can shoot whenever I want to.
I shoot in my back yard , which is about 40 yd distance. I have over 600+ acres, back home+national forest (1hr ride), that I can practice with real live targets, LOL!
Oh ok. If you dont already go there. Riverside archery is the best archery shop around. Chris does all the work on my bow and does a great job. I have ridiculous expectations for everything, and they accommodate all my requests. Im even going there today to have a few pins changed and swaped around on my hogg father sight.
I've never heard of it but I'll definitely have to check it out, I'm only an hour away. I usually go to Robin Hood Archery in Coachella because it's close to my house. The tech at Robin Hood is great but takes FOREVER! Weeks at a time for simple work.
thats crazy! I usually am in and out in a hour if they are busy. I have never had to leave my bow at riverside archery. and the more you come in and they get to know you. they begin to take extra time to make sure you are as happy as possible. they defiantly keep there doors open because of regulars. Im at the point now that I dont even have to make a deposit on anything i order from them. Im left handed, so most of the stuff i want to get they wont have in stock, so they have to order it. I just pay once i come in and pick it up. If you go down there, and talk to chris. tell him Bryan Jeffrey with the bowtech boss sent you in.
