i get the best sounds on my half moon calls with walnut base and poplar sides and walnut paddle.also a poplar base and walnut sides and walnut poplar paddle .seems like poplar and walnut just work for me.wanting to experiment with cherry and chestnut next year also.got some bone dry Osage orange waiting for cutting for some box calls.call making is a great hobby.
