"Oh, my....Oh, my God....(heavy breathing),.... " Tiffany Laskoski I love when she says that!... oh wait we're talking about killing :D
I know what you mean!!! I watched a video on youtube last week of a guy from Jersey. He was on like doe numder five or six in six days. He shot this doe in front of her hip I believe it was (i do remember it was a horible shot) and he said something to the effect of man that was a great shot!! I would hate to see his bad shot and he was stoked about it. Made me wonder about that guys ethics.
I have actually done that. Really I have, with a 12 gage slug. 125yd brass ball sight only on the run after I "smoked him" broadside!! I didn't hit dead center though. Just took out his hips to keep him from going to much farther. I didn't say much until I walked up on him. I said to myself "Well, sh**, I am am a better shot than I thought". Shooting clays did help with deer hunting.
My first deer with a bow I shot I took a stupid 40 yd shot with the deer moving. First thing I said was well crap I missed. Then I saw the deer run for 50 yds and drop and then I got angry with myself for taking a risky shot then I was super excited. I probably looked like a fool!
Crying aggravates me. You want to punch them and give them something to cry about. I always love hearing ( not )... I smoked him. That's what I'm talking about. Fist pumping and then showing how much their hand is shaking... which gets worse the longer the camera is showing it. Then them telling you how it all went down after just watching it. Then another show of the shaking hand. 10 minutes later... Well we reviewed the film... we are going to wait for morning to go find him. I don't say anything until I have my hands on a buck or doe for that matter. I would be a horribly boring person to watch on film after the shot. I get pretty intense but it isn't showing on the outside. Also you would be waiting for me to talk to the camera cause I on am on the phone to the wife, then I text a bunch of people, then I call Scott, Troy, the boss, get hell from TeeJay cause he can't get through and he hates teaser texts. I smoked it... ya right !!!!! Their are so busy hamming it up for the camera... they tend to not focus on what just happened. I love the open country here. You almost always see your deer go down. I've yet to actually wait the standard half hour to go get my deer. 5 minutes tops. 10 minutes if I look for my arrow first. :D Tim

But I hear ya if it was so perfect of a shot and they "smoked" them then go get the dam deer!
I always say "Good Night" right before I hit the release, and have done so since I was a little guy. I usually say "Thank you lord for letting me see it one more time" after the shot, but I also say that every sunrise and sunset of each hunt... When I call the wife, I usually say belly up (stolen from Chris Ashley of Primos)...she laughs and calls me lame or something along those lines...
