Simple. What is your favorite concert you have been to? Why?

    Mine?

Ozzfest '02 - Outdoor concerts just rule!

A close second would have to be Steve Miller Band in August '07 (Just got out of the Marines, and it was immaculate. What a wide variety of people.

Lastly, I would say Ozzfest '05, but I never actually made it to the concert, I was pre-occupied at the camp grounds. :\

This was the last concert I went to... It was free, and I had an open bar, all night, so I couldn't turn it down. lol.

    Worst concert ever?

Ja Rule... That's right, I said it. lol. I met this girl, and she had tickets to it for some reason... I was just looking for a "friend" so I went... lol.

    Toss up:

    2 different genres but..

Alpine Valley Wisconsin: Rage against the Machine (also saw them in Minneapolis, they put on a great show minus the political b.s.)

Minnesota State Fair: Jason Aldean, opened by the Eli Young band. Jason wore a Jared Allen jersey for much of the concert :)

I worked in radio for most of my adult life, so I've seen alot of concerts. Fuel opening for Aerosmith was one of the best IMO. STP was good (can't remember who opened). Elton John/Billy Joel was good, even though I'm not a big fan of either one. I only remember a few bad shows, and those were to be expected.

Kenny Chesney/Sugarland/Pat Green was a very good show, but I think my favorite show was Rob Zombie and Korn

    Don't have a favorite.

Ozzy's bark at the Moon concert was pretty cool with the laser show, giant bats and spiffy stage show.

The death/speed metal concerts at the little Caberet Metro in Chicago were always entertaining. If the band sucked, the mosh pit made up for it.

I saw Damn Yankees, Steve Miller and Kansas all together at Alpine Valley WI. (big outdoor venue) Great show and watching the drunk people try to walk back up the steep hill is amusing. First time I ever got pulled over by the police was on the way home.

I'm pretty sure my sister and I met Satan or one of his minions outside of the UIC Pavillion after a Metallica concert. (it was funny but creepy too.. you had to see this guy)

    Those were the days.

I think we can all agree, pending good weather, outdoor concerts are the best. Especially in the evening/past sunset hours.

Both of the Ozzfest concerts were at Somerset, WI... What a place. lol.

The SMB concert was at Grand Casino, Hinkley, MN... Their new(ish, now) Ampetheater, is very well setup. I really enjoyed the fact that there isn't a bad seat out there...

    You lucky bas.....!

He died on my 8th birthday. I remember seeing it on the news when I was eating ice cream and yes, I knew who he was when I was 8. Made a lot of good memories listening to his music!;)

Wow, you were there? R.I.P. Stevie Ray... :(

For me, I have to list my concerts like this:

Best concert (overall music, stage show, etc...)
TRIUMPH at The Aud in Buffalo, NY (Buffalo Sabres hockey arena) in the early 80's. Molly Hatchett opened for them and were good, but let's face it, TRIUMPH blew them off the stage!

    Most musical concert
Chicago at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in the late 70's. (R.I.P. Terry Kath)

Most drug infested concert (weed was everywhere!!)
Peter Frampton back in the 70's. I saw Frampton at a huge college arena and the whole place was full of smoke. I mean, you could have been 100% clean and straight going in. But by the end of the show, you were trashed from all the second hand smoke! :p

    Best sing-a-long concert
Crosby, Stills, Nash in the early 80's. I saw them at Niagara Falls Convention Center, and they put on a legendary show. Everybody knew the songs, everybody knew the words, and we all decided to sing along with CSN. When they did their encore "Teach Your Children", they realized that everyone was singing - and doing a pretty good job too - so towards the middle of the song, CSN decided to step away from their microphones and let everyone finish the song for them! :)

And last but not least... The most historical concert
The Rolling Stones at UVA Charlottesville, VA. My sister, brother-in-law, and I just had to see The Stones. Such a legendary and historical band coming this close to Richmond, VA?!? We jumped at the chance to get tickets. My wife didn't want to go, as she's not really that big of a fan and is more laid back (Anne Murray, James Taylor, etc...). No biggie... We had a blast. The Stones can still rock, even though they are pushing 70!

SRV was my biggest inspiration to learn to play.... wish I had started learning earlier than a couple years ago... shoulda done it in my 20's instead of my late-30's

I hear ya... Clapton was my inspiration to play back in the late 60's and early 70's. I remember being blown away by "Sunshine Of Your Love" when I was around 11 years old. I grabbed my older sisters nylon string guitar and figured out the famous intro to "Sunshine Of Your Love" on her guitar. She got pi$$ed, took the guitar away, and kicked my butt!

I am now 48 yrs old (49 in April), and still play guitar, mandolin, trumpet, trombone, etc...etc... every chance I get. Once you learn to play music, it never leaves you. I can match Clapton note for note on most of his songs, but SRV was in a different league, like Hendrix was. Stevie Ray played with so much soul and feeling, that his guitar was like an extention of his arm. He was incredible and sadly missed. :(

hell i am 47 and still cant get it. he didn't play be the rules.. lol

I have everything stevie ever did, form tv shows,to grammys and quite a few bootleg shows, some of his best work can be found on a cd named "in the beginning"
I even have a invitation to a private guitar clinic hosted by stevie ray in garland texas dec 15 1985

also there is a great book about srv called "roadhouseblues'' by hugh gregory if you want to know all the inside scoop..but it's kind of sometimes more than we want to know about are hero's kind of thing.

I haven't been to that many concerts.... probably only 3 or 4... but out of the concerts I've been to, my favorite was this year when Kansas performed with my schools symphony orchestra. The venue was just an auditorium, so no matter where you sit you have a good seat.

I've seen TOOL 6 times. I paid 350 dollars for two tickets at Memorial Hall in Kansas City in 2006 for their warm up tour. There was only about 2k people that could fit in that place but it was one of the best that I've ever seen. Maynard said, "I heard that tickets for this show were scalped...I suggest you scalp them back!" Danny Carey's parents and grandma sat right next to me. I've been a drummer for close to 20 years and he is without a doubt my single most major drum influence. Pretty cool.

I am gonna sound really weird saying this, but Bruce Springsteen. I've been to concerts of all types, mostly country but a good variety of others and I was blown away by Bruce. I was kinda upset with my wife's family for even buying me a ticket at $90 bucks a pop cause really I didn't think I needed to see "The Boss." That concert was at Giants Stadium, where he has sold that venue out more than anyone else in history, something like 65 times. SInce then I have been to numerous shows and can't get enough. When he tours, he tours long and hard and then breaks for a year or two. When they start back up, I am sure that I will be at a bunch of them.

He writes and plays all his own stuff, moves like a teenager and his 50-60 year band usually plays 25-28 songs, in a row. And when I say in a row, I mean one right after another. That first night at Giants Stadium, they played 28 songs straight to the tune of 3 and half hours. Seriously, if you get the chance, don't miss it. I thanked my in laws repeatedly.

I liked a bunch of other concerts like Tim Mcgraw/Kenny Chesney (before he was gay) and Tim Mcgraw/Montgomery Gentry, both of them were at an ampitheater. Trace Atkins and Black Shelton were also good.
