If your a seasoned bowhunter then chances are you've owned several different types of bows over the years. If your like me then you've probably found that all compound bow manufacturer's have had their hit and miss years. My question is : Who do you think has been the most Constant year after year at producing good bows?
In my humble opinion, Hoyt... yet BowTech/Diamond is a strong "newcomer" with amazing releases yr after yr currently. I'd like to see Hoyt offer non Tech riser bows however... I've owned Bear, Jennings, Hoyt 96-2006 and BowTech/Diamond 2006-current...
I've owned just about every brand bow on the market.PSE,Matthews,Bear. My favorite is High Country.I shot a Matthews for a couple of years, then got my hands on HCA Iron Mace.Found it to be a lot smoother,a little faster, and hands down the quietest bow I ever shot. And yeah,I'm biased because HCA is based in my home town and I have a few friends that work for em.Plus the owner is a friend of my Dads.
They actually went bankrupt a couple of years ago.But Spencer's son opened it back up last year. The Machine Supreme was my first High Country bow. Then traded it for a Mathews, then went back to High Country after just one season. HCA's shop is in Dunlap,Tenn.Take any of their bows that need service into their office and they'll fix it and most of time don't charge you anything.$10 at the most. They even replaced a limb on my Iron Mace when it cracked when my son ran over with his 4-wheeler.
My buddy I shoot with shoots a High Country Iron mace. I agree it is a very nice bow. But I have to go with Mathews also.
My two coworkers: Mathews PSE I dont know, since im new to owning my own compound bow (first started archery with my dad on his old recurve)
The Iron Mace is getting some love! Wow. I had to refresh my screen just to make sure it was really so... I'm a High Country guy. The deal that they were offering a few years back - basically selling the Iron Maces at just over cost, too good to pass up. The fact that they're willing to warranty the bow all the way down to 3gpp says a lot. Nobody else is willing to do that...
I'd say Hoyt, but I'm pretty biased...I suppose you could say I'm a Hoyt fanboy even... 100% honest though, I hate the valley on their bows. It's way too short. Really liking the G5 Prime bows, and I think PSE has been making some serious noise the last 2-3 years as well!
Hard for me to say. Been a Mathews shooter since I started and have loved my bows but I find that even they have had bows that I've hated while my friends thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. And vice versa of course. Ive owned Martin and shot numerous others too that I've really liked. I really like Matt McPherson's business philosophy, the company's customer service and his personal worldview, and honestly that's what keeps me coming as I am confident that I could find another bow that I like at least almost as much as my Z7.
I guess I would have to say PSE. PSE has consistantly made good bows and when they have a good selling model like the Brute, they keep in in the lineup. Now I use to be a Mathews man but here lately I just can justify paying the Mathews price when there are other bows out there costing 1/2 the price that shoot just as good. I do however like the Mission line of bows that they offer.
I've only have had Bear, Ridged, and Martin. I've had my Martin bow for 25 years and as far as I'm concerned it's still an awesome bow!
