I had to ask. Assuming some of us read, what are you favorite books? Novels: The Princess Bride Lord of The Rings Trilogy (especially The Two Towers. Love the movie, but it didn't do the book justice) Paranoia Non Novels: The Wal Mart Effect The Little Red Ball What the Ten Best CEO's Know
Where the Red Fern Grows Old Man and the Sea The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy Call of the Wild Sea Wolf I could go on and on but those listed stand out.
Born to Run by Christopher McDougall Can I Keep My Jersey by Paul Shirley Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond 1491 by Charles C. Mann
Where the Red Fern Grows Harry Potter Series Walk On (personal favorite probably) Narnia Series Eragon and Eldest
I'm reading Paul Ekman's "Telling Lies" right now... It's very interesting. For those that don't know... Paul Ekman is the man depicted in the TV show "Lie to me" He is the real life Dr. Lightman. Very interesting on how he became "him".
Point of Impact by Steven Hunter Classic! Love the ending. Black Light by Steven Hunter A close second. More guns less Crime By John Lott Jr
I like the Harry Potter series a lot I like Dan Brown quite a bit too (The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Deception Point, Digital Fortress) I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell (Fairly entertaining, but the guys seems like a major ****** bag). Scar Tissue (An autobiography about Red Hot Chili Pepper's band member Anthony Kiedis).
Paraphrased..."I always thought it to be interesting when weather reporters would cite that the storm had moved 'safely out to sea' ". Foreword from author Sebastian Junger in his WONDERFUL novel...."The Perfect Storm". One of the best books I've ever read. I also loved these....and didn't love the movies: 'A time to Kill' 'Primal Fear' Others... 'Raise the Titanic' 'The Natural' 'The Catcher in the Rye' 'The Maltese Falcon' 'Inherit the Wind'
Dude, how the F don't YOU, of all people mention Lee Child's Jack Reacher series? Best series of books ever. Highly recomend. Beyond that. Joesph Finder's books. (Paranoia is a great place to start as Steve said.) A few of James Grippando. A surprise to me as I don't normally like terrorist plot types, but Alex Berenson has three books out that are killer. First one in the series is The Faithful Spy. I'd be willing to bet that most guys on here would love the Lee Child Reacher series though.
I have a brazillion books... but they're mostly non-fiction. From the book 'Unipolar Lead Electrocardiography and Vector Cardiography' to Paul Prudhommes's Seasoned America. :D For fiction, I alway liked Stephen King. The Stand being my favorite book. I liked the creepiness and unpredicability of his books. Tho' one the creepiest book I've read was 'Whoever Fights Monsters' by FBI profiler Robert K. Ressler. It's the the real stories of real serial killers. Very interesting and disturbing.
I'm reading 'Listening Point' right now:D 'Tracker', by Tom Brown, Jr. 'Total Money Makeover', Dave Ramsey (life changing read) Bible 'He Chose Nails', by Max Lucado 'In Defense of Food', Michael Pollan Otherwise, Deer & Deer Hunting and Outdoor News round out all my reading these days. ... I haven't read any fiction in a long time. hmm
the art of war- sun zu (read it at least once a yr) buffalo soldier- charles goodman (intersting dynamics between blacks and native am.) life of pi - yann martel (changed my life) the things they carried - tim o'brien (i know we had to read this in school but it was worth it, THANKS DAD FOR CARRYING ALL THAT S*&^ IN YOUR PACK! 82nd Airborn Bloodwings!!!) for whom the bell tolls - hemmingway (soooo slow but you HAVE to read at least 1 of his) one flew over the cuckoo's nest - ken kesey (great last 50pgs, f-ed up though) slaughterhouse five - kurt vonnegut (another f-ed up read) angels and demons - dan brown (i think his best even though i read davinci code first. deception code and digital fortress not even in same sentence, havent read the new one yet) dracula - bram stoker (starts off slow, but very discriptive, bite that "new moon") the souls of black folk - w.e.b. du bois (tough read)
