Just chunk it and wind... repeat. Flats... open water... around weed beds.

I haven't bass fished in 5-6 years. One of those things I did with my life long friend who battled cancer and lost. I stopped when he wasn't healthy enough to go any more. It's just not in me to to do it now.

When we were going his go to was a Carolina rig with a red and silver 6" Zoom rubber worm. He could kill it with that rig.

Mine was either a watermelon or pink fluke. I could let it sink down deep and work it slow or hit a little hole on the edge of the bank and bam. High weeds, downed trees, drop offs. You name it and I could get it done. He was deadly with the zoom too.

Sounds like your friend was a pretty special dude. Sorry for your pain.

I love fishing a jig n' pig. Fish them on drop offs, weed beds, timber, slop, ANYTHING. I even swim thim. Rig them with a sweet beaver or other creature trailer. By far the best jigs I have EVER used are siebert outdoors jigs. All hand tied wire skirts.

I can't pick a single favorite lure. I have to list three.

First would be a Terminator Spinnerbait (4.25 gold main blade/small silver colorado blade) with a chartreuse/white skirt (spring/summer/fall)

Second would be a Bandit 200 series crankbait (chartruese/blue back) (year round)

    Third is a Rat-L-Trap (chartreuse/purple back) (winter/early spring)
