Add another for the frog. Find a good weed less one if you don't already have one and plan on fishing the pads.
Give it a try. I prefer Spro brands. The regular one and the popper version each have their places. I have a few different colors, but natural colors are going to be a good bet. Look for pockets in the moss, or irregularities inside it, or on the outside edges. Always a good idea to have a plastic with a pegged weight sitting there on hand while fishing with a frog. You will miss some blow ups on the frogs, and can catch them a lot of the time by casting a worm or senko into them.
Work those edges of the trees and aqua plants. The bass love the laydown trees particularly. They like to wait in ambush so drop that Aaron's magic near them and make it dance. I have fished that rig deep, shallow, etc. It is my go-to for sure. You can bounce it, tap it, jerk it, swim it. I like it better than the reaction baits because it doesn't need a hungry bass to hit it. Annoying one can work a lot, too. I might also take a work like the Texas rig option mentioned before and drop it on the surface with no weight, letting it sink by the edge of those weeds or that bush, and twitch it while it falls. If the line quits dropping or you get a slow pull set the hook.
I fish creeks a lot, more than any other body of water. Rapala Ultra Light Crank 3 is a great creek bait. So is the Rapala Countdown. Probanly my two favorite baits. Caught on the above mentioned RULC3 Caught on a Strike King Rattle Trap.
Rapala shad rap number 5 in either perch or fire tiger color depending on where I am. Love them in the sc lakes
Don't be overwhelmed... it sounds like you can catch a bass with almost anything to me. For me, its like bow-hunting. Keep it simple; pick a couple lures you enjoy using, learn to cast them accurately and keep at it until you catch something. My go bait to in the summer is of all things a "Little George" in the middle of the river (40-50 feet deep)... I get some weird looks but I catch a lot of bass. Simple bait... I cast it and bounce it on the bottom... when I feel something... it is either a fish... or I'm hung on the bottom... If I can reel it in... its a fish.
Went out today to the lake and was hooking large mouth with a weed less frog in the Lilly's. Also landed a few crappies on small worms.
Mine is the drop-shot with a Chompers drop-shot worm. Catch fish up to 40 feet deep with this. I've gotten 22' smallies and largemouths with them. In fact, I'm going out tonight and fishing it, Lake Geneva. Second is the Rattle-trap.
Does this help? 9# 3oz. Had a bigger one on a few months later, but she snapped off. Before you cry "fish story" I was fishing with my pastor. He saw it.
Now I'm embarrassed to share mine... Caught a small mouth in a creek near my house on a Texas rig with a green pumpkin w/ red flakes yamasenko. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There's nothing better then a chartreuse spinner bait for me 1/2 oz large single blade hammer finished
If you have to pick only one lure, you have to think of something that's really versatile no matter how deep the fish are and what time of year. If I had to pick one, it would be a 1/2oz black and blue jig with a weedless head on it. This can be used to fish 20ft hard bottom, 2' of slop, or anything in-between.
I know quite a few people who have success with rattle-traps but for the life of me I cant catch a fish with the darn things. DO you real back steady, twitch them back, pull and then let drop?
