Picked up a great dark colored set with my fiancé yesterday. I know the buck well but have never found his sheds before. Also picked up a smaller 4 pt from year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I took my mother out turkey hunting last weekend and after a close encounter with a big tom that held up out of range, we switched to shed hunting and she found a great set off a buck we call Passer. The antlers were laying right on top of each other. I've only found one other set that was laying like that. Pretty awesome. Then 10 minutes later she finds a dandy 4 pt side from last year. Fun day. Just saw this thread and thought I would post an update of the sheds from my 4/14 post. My fiancé had found his right side and we have four years of trail pics of him. Ended up harvesting him on Halloween this past bow season. Absolute beautiful public land buck and my largest. 10 point 18" inside and 225 lbs dressed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I rarely find sheds on my property, as the near seem to winter about a mile away in a huge tamarack swamp next to some huge cornfields. But this is my best shed ever found from a few years ago.
I never scored it, but I figured from the dozen or so pictures of the buck when he was alive, that he was around 155, but I'm no expert. Do you think I'm in the ball park? Here are a couple more pictures of him. (the camera dates are WRONG, for some of the photos, as they were all taken in January.
From another forum I frequent. I found this set a few weeks ago. I found my third matched set of the year this afternoon. I named him Blade Runner because of his 10" left bladed G2. I've been following him on my cameras since he was in velvet last summer. Now I have his matched set. I learned his routine from my cameras.I knew which trails he was using every day. I did not know where he was bedding. So today I followed one of his trails and within 20 seconds of looking I found his set. Pretty exciting to get his matched set after watching him so long on camera. Here he is in velvet last summer- Here he is not too long ago- And here is his set as they lay- On the hood of my truck- A short video walking up on them as they lay- http://youtu.be/uQe3XU2DsxE
