In order..... 1. Whitetail deer / waterfowl ..... dead even tie 2. Turkeys in the spring 3. Coyotes (calling them with mouth calls) 4. Rabbit 5. Pheasant/ quail 6. Doves 7. Haven't bear or hog hunted yet but hopefully they find a place on this list. Along with elk, mulies, and some species of sheep. Any one of the above get me pumped up and is totally worth calling off work.
I'm gonna say hogs at night. It's a total different hunt I think. I believe it takes a little more concentration on the shot due to being dark. I do use an elusive wildlife blind side light. But is blast. I love the whitetails to but just for the horns. I like freak racks especially.
I've not hunted outside of Ky. I've hunted and killed everything Ky has to offer but bear. I have to agree with Elkguide. Hunting elk during the rut is by far the most exciting. When they're bugling and responding, man. It's breath taking. Having a bull bugle in your lap is second to none.... I hope all of you get to experience that in your lifetime.
Oh yea 8. Squirrels. I just don't care to eat them but my grandpa loves them so I hunt them occasionally and give them to him since he can no longer walk
Elk with whitetails at a close 2nd. Once I shoot an elk I'm sure that gap will greatly increase. There's just something about hunting in the Rockies that sitting in a tree stand won't ever beat. Can't wait for September!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've hunted whitetail, turkey, javelina, sika deer, squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, etc. Bow or gun doesn't matter to me, I love all hunting equally. Every species has it's own unique qualities that make them exciting. That being said whitetail deer will always hold a special place since that was what I started out on.
I like the work or "preparation" that I put in during the off season... Watching the antlers grow and getting to know the local deer population, Creating a game plan based on the habits that these deer have, And once the season finally arrives it's the anticipation of what could happen that keeps me on my stand for hours on end..... When you have pictures and a history with one specific deer the hunt for that deer becomes special, and putting an end to his story is a privalage !
MOOSE !!! Nothing like hunting a big bull, challenging it on the ground, making him think you're another bull trying to steal his cow... Then the ears pin down, antlers trashing through the branches, and THE CALLS... WOAH ! WOAAH ! WOAHHH !!! Oh yeah ! ;o)
Mine so far is black bear. Loved the hunt and the meat is delicious. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
Until this fall I would have said White-Tails. Now, elk in the rut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like hunting for whitetail deer is good for a target. It is not too big and not too small. Hunting for rabbits is quite challenging.
Hunting turkeys during spring gobbler season is my absolute favorite. I went elk hunting during the rut once and it was like turkey hunting on steroids and was awesome. Moose hunt at the end of the rut was not nearly as productive nor fun as we had almost no action all week from calling but during a rut period I could see where that would get the juices flowing pretty quick with a bow. Black bear is great also and I do get excited every time I see one appear. Having said all that I spend way more time deer hunting than all the other species put together. Big bucks give me a rush and the entire game is fun for me, stand placement, food plots, trails, bedding areas, ambush points and on and on. They each have their place for me, all enjoyable.
