My son is currently 6 (going to be 7 in March). Last night he was reading so I turned on Real Tree Monster Buck and he was just engrossed by the show (which I would have never imagined). I asked him if he would like to learn to shoot a bow and arrow and his eyes lit up and he said "YEAH!!!" I grew up with a shotgun in my hand, mostly hunting dove, rabbit, and squirrel, but have never really used a bow and arrow. I'm looking for some advice on what might be a decent 'starter' bow and arrows set for him and possibly a set for me as well (so we can learn the sport together). As far as one for him I have seen the Barnett Outdoors Junior Team Realtree Lil Banshee Compound Archery Set for $30 and it gets great reviews, but really have no clue as to what I should be looking for...so I'm hoping you can give me some advice. As for me, I really haven't taken much of a look but it seems everything is over $100 and a great deal more for something with great reviews. Any recommendations? I don't want to put much money into it (in case it just a passing phase), but I don't want to get something that will break within the first 10 times of using it either. What other items are 'essential' (again, not wanting to spend much more than I have to)? I would greatly appreciate any help and advice you can give. TripleB
Bow Tech makes a Diamond Bow that is nice and Mission is a Great place to start also for a new bow. Very Cool! It may be a phase but a good bow can be used here and there as inspiration comes and goes. Have Fun.
Like spotnstalk said ..... Diamonds and missions. Diamond line for him would go infinate edge very veesitile for a growing kid and outlaw for you. Mission def a craze for him and ballistic for you. Thats how id do it. Wont hurt your pockets much either. Theres my 2 pennies hope it helps.
