I've had a number of cars, most before I ever turned 18... none were wrecked, all were paid for by me and sold when I got tired of them... '86 trans am - fun but slow '86 Mustang GT - that was a fast car, 3.73 gears '92 Z28 25th anniversary - beautiful car, but slow '92 firebird - slower than the Z28 '89 notchback 5.0 - loved this car. Put an edelbrock intake, 24# injectors, E cam, 1.8 roller rockers, Reverse manual valve body built C4, 2800 stall, 4.10 gear, 4 cyl springs, aluminum radiator, electric fans, car was completely gutted, bbk headers, off road H pipe, flowmaster exhaust (dumped at rear axle), subframe connectors... sadly I never got it to the strip. After I got all that done I started prepping a 514 big block for it. Eventually a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse so it was sold. He put a 408 small block in it, it's now running low 10s N/A, without nitrous. '08 Grand Prix GXP - current daily driver, it's a pretty sweet ride, 300 hp, fwd. It's a snow moster, kid hauler, huge trunk, remote start, all leather. Smooth and fast. I believe the top speed is 155 but I won't ever have it there. Some friend's car I've worked on: '04 Z06, cammed, headers, exhaust, rockers, cold air, throttle body, programmed, and most importantly 150 shot mmm VERY fast car, 450 rear wheel hp, before nitrous (nearly 1:1 at wheels) '89 notchback, see above lol. '04 cobra, whipplecharger, 605 rear wheel hp '90 notchback mustang - easily one of my favorites, you could put plastic on the seats and it would look brand new... 6.0 ls2 V8, 3550 tremec trans, turbocharged, 580 rear wheel hp (VERY conservative tune) Most Saturday nights we head to the south side of Indy and all hang out. It's a good time. I think the next thing I build will be an old ford truck with a big block.
1984 Honda V-65 Magna... Honda put a double-truck ad in every major cycle magazine at the time (both pages of the mag when you've got it open that showed nothing but the bike streaking across the right page leaving streaks of light all the way across the fold from the left page. At the bottom, it simply stated: "0-60 faster than you can read this." They were right.
I had a Mustang SVO in High School, not real fast but fun to drive. I was big into motorcycles. I had a 93 GSXR 1100. I originally had the motor punched out to 1206cc and slapped on some 39mm Keihin Flatslide carbs. I had it painted and took the wing off the back to make it look like a 750, it was a fun bike until I almost flipped it in a street race and cracked the fairing when it slapped down. After that it was stretched 5 inches and the Flatslide Carbs got new velocity stacks to run with a 50hp nitrous kit. The bike put down 182hp without the Nitrous, never checked it with the kit. I also rode a couple of Turbo Bikes after selling mine, the last one had over 400hp and was a 99 Hyabusa stretched 8 inches. That bike made me realize that it was time to get out of the speed game. My current wife will not allow me to get another one and I'm getting nowhere on the 2013 Mustang that I want
Right now I have a '01 Silverado with a 6L vortec and a radical cam. It lopes just like a dragster. ...or it might just be a 6L vortec with a vacuum leak somewhere causing the engine to run too lean and giving it a rough idle.... but I can pretend, right???? And people almost believe me when I tell them it's radical cam. Kind of like when my one Scout had an issue with the neutral safety switch and I had to raise the steering wheel to start the truck. My friends would ask what was up with that and I would tell them it was a 'High Tech Anti-Theft Mechanism'. heee hee hee....
never satisfied my lust for speed on a road before. but on the snow is a different story! hit 113 this year on my 2012 ski doo renegade 1200 4tech. and thats when i decided i'd better slow down. later that weekend i got squirrely on a patch of ice and knocked the windshield off. lucky for me thats all that happend! its the one on the left.
69 camero SS. Spent pretty much every dime on that car when I was a junior/senior in high school. Hi rise 327 with a 6 pack, slap shift, quasi tub rear end, etc etc. Was clocked by a Sheriff (who was a friend of my Dad's BTW so this story doesn't end well) doing 142 and climbing. He didn't even try and chase, just went and told the ol' man. Lost the key's for awhile after that little stunt. Worst part was watching my Mom drive it to get groceries while I was banned. Made me want to cry seeing her try and shift it. Sold that car to pay for tuition. Still miss it.
I sold my mustang when I found out I was going to be a father, expecting to need all the money I could get. Just dumb, easily could have kept it.
