I think the OP might be referring to the guys you see who will walk into a shop with a 1 year old X brand and pick up the latest, greatest, from that same manufacturer without even shooting it.

I shoot a lot at a shop that has tons of Matthews guys who do this. I've watched guys bring in one year old bows to buy a Monster when it first came out. Of course it was the best, it was the fastest bow Matthews made. But most of those same guys couldn't shoot it worth a darn. These same guys sold those when Matthews released their next years' lineup too.

I couldn't care less. Actually, I find it rather funny. It's pretty good entertainment come to think of it.

This site is great for beginning bowhunters. The main reason is that the experienced bowhunters on here tell the beginners to just shoot as many possible bows as they can and purchase the one that feels the best to them. This is great advice.

The problem with many new bowhunters is that they do not know about the endless amounts of information on this site. They are steered into a direction usually by their parents or other people they hunt with. In most cases these people point them directly towards the bow brand that they themselves have. The new bowhunter goes out and shoots this brand of bow and purchases it because he or she doesn't know any better.

This is excatly what happened to me. I went to a local shop that sells the Mission and Mathews line. Now I am not complaining by any means about my bow. I think I shoot it fairly well. I am comfortable and confident with my setup. I do know that the next bow I buy though will be after I get done shooting many other brands. Maybe it will be a Mathews, maybe it won't. I will know for sure though that I am getting the right bow for me.

It all starts with how you were brought up bowhunting. Its hard to change once you get used to something. You have to force yourself to try new things, which includes trying different bows. I think brand loyalty is great as long as you know what other possibilities are out there.
