We stay at Beach Cove, every time we go. They are on Facebook, and even have a web cam if you want to check it out that way. I recommend the 2bdr or 3bdr condo simply because it has full kitchen and washer/dryer. It's straight across the street (all oceanfront) from Barefoot Landing, which has shops, an alligator exhibit as well as a tiger encounter thing. It's also only a few 2-3) miles from local shopping, the mall, Bass Pro Shops, and Tanger Outlets.

Relatively close and within driving distance is Family Kingdom, an amusement park which also has the water park and all day passes for both aren't too expensive. There is Ripley's Aquarium & Broadway at the Beach which has shopping and some things for kids to do. Of course, there are the piers, putt putt, etc. Ripleys also has several other attractions as well.

The resort itself has an indoor arcade, indoor pool, 4 outdoor pools, 3 outdoor hottubs, lazy river, outdoor bar, they have the bar inside as well as a grill type restaurant. I don't have any complaints and that's where we always stay. Very friendly people and very nice!

I'll answer questions if you want to! The web address for the condo is www beachcove . com

I've been to MB so many times I'm sick of it. My wife loves the beach so we make a trip or 2 every year. Compass Cove used to be nice, it's gone down hill. Check out: Bayview Resort, Camelot, or Captains Quarters. The rooms are def. get what you pay for. Get a ocean view balcony room where ever you stay. If you like peace and quiet, look for a condo in Cherry Grove.

There's plenty to do. If shopping is your thing, you'll be in heaven with the outlet stores. I suggest hitting the Bass Pro Shops one evening. NASCAR Speed Park is pretty fun, skip on the whole Hard Rock Cafe crap food's terrible and super expensive. Make sure you make it out to Margaritaville, expect 90 minute wait but it's worth it. If you like shows head to North Myrtle, they've got all you can stand. Avoid the strip at night, cruising is huge in MB, you'll be stuck in traffic next to 100's of kids in $60K cars. On the flip side if you like cars, take a walk at night you'll see tons of customs and nice rides.

Agree with everything! Never stayed at these places but that's because we have a favorite and stick with it lol.

Skip Hard Rock, and yes, stay away from the strip at night especially if you go in the heart of summer. Which is why we don't go middle of summer. We are going next week, most kids are in school because its not quite spring break and most colleges have already had spring break. We're going early May for our anniversary but just us so I'm not worried about the crazy party kids if there are any, and we try to go Labor Day every year...never too bad then either.

We used to go to Edisto a lot. We lived about 45 minutes away. There are also several nature trails in the area such as Bear Island WMA and the Intercoastal Waterway boat ramp is right down the road. You can stay at Edisto Island State Park in an RV or tent or rent a condo privately. Charleston and Savannah are both about an hour away. One warning is the rip currents can get pretty strong sometimes.

Some friends of mine have houses, we usually rent them. House>hotel with kids.

I generally would agree, but only if it has a pool or is in a gated area with a pool, and oceanfront, which is hard to find.

I don't swim in the ocean, and my kids prefer pools as well, lol. So, without a pool we spend A LOT of money! Which is why I like the 2bdr condos where we stay. 2 bathrooms, "master suite" with deck entry..etc. like a house without having to clean lol

GABowhunter, of course you will! :)

I'm from MD so maybe I'm biased but I like Ocean City, MD more than Myrtle. Very family friendly. AWESOME boardwalk. Lots to do, lots of good restaurants, clean beach, good times. Gotta get back to OC soon. maybe next summer. Too broke this year for vaca othe than Cali to see the inlaws.

VRBO is a good way to go.

MB is a beautiful area. I went there maybe 10 or 12 years ago. Had a pretty good time.
