The last time my wife and I went to a movie theater was 15 years ago for The Green Mile. Last night after a conversation, we decided to go and see The Son of God tomorrow. Depending on how this goes will determine if we go back into hibernation from movie theaters.

Well since it has been so long I should worn you of some things. First you will need to go take out a second mortage on the house to afford the tickets and don't even think about popcorn and soft drinks. If you want those you will have to sell your first born. Now theaters these days are a lot different too. You will see flashing lights all over but don't be alarmed. This is just the continous use of cell phones from spoiled smart *** teenagers. Have a good time!

Me and the wife go to the early morning times on Sunday to avoid the crowds. Some movies are meant to be enjoyed on the big screen, like big action or scifi movies.

In River Falls Wisconsin, they have a theater that has 4 dollar tickets and 50 cent sodas and popcorn. The only place I will ever go to a movie in the theater.

This! Sunday day is the best time to go. If not Sunday than Monday-Friday early movies are usually pretty empty also.

Agreed 100%. If you do it right (go to the matinee), it's not as costly and you don't have the crowds (especially for adult oriented movies). Some movies have to be seen in theaters.

It's definitely a generational thing and/or a "once you have a child" thing. My parents see like 1 movie in the theater every 2-3 years. My sister who has a 2 year old hasn't been to one since her child was born.

My wife and I go to around 6-10 a year.

I saw you looking at the thread earlier Hooker and I think you must have been disappointed to discover that this has nothing to do with alcohol.

I enjoy going to the theaters every now and then. Like Hooker, some movies just have to been seen on the big screen.

Ticket prices don't bother me because I only go every now and then. Go out to dinner before the movies so dont have to worry about buying soda/popcorn. I also havent had a movie ruined because of a cell phone. :tu:

I love love love love love love going to the movies.

300, Avatar, Titanic, The Dark Knight, Inception...all meant to be viewed on the big screen and boy does it make a difference.

I saw titanic in the theatre with my GF and her dad....kind of an awkward moment when the "drawing of rose" scene happened.

The more epic the movie the more it needs to be watched in IMAX on a big *** screen...

One would think that after such a long hibernation you'd want to see a good movie. You know, like The Green Mile.

^^^^ Yes, don't forsake the theatre. Save the romantic comedies and that kinda garbage for cable, but many movies were meant for theatres. Don't let a bunch of twerps ruin your good time.
