I have never Turkey hunted before and I am looking to bag a bird this fall. Wondering if you guys could give me a few suggestions. Should i hunt in the woods, tree lines. Should I use a call and which one. Etc.. Lookin for some opinions. I know an area that there are usually a few birds around, I just don't know what the best way to get into shooting distances would be. I will be using my bow as well. Thanks for the input ahead of time

I don't know about Illinois but here in Colorado once they get out of the tree they aren't talking at all. I find where they roost and set up between 50 and 100 yards from the roost and try to catch them leaving in the mornings or coming to the roost in the evening. I've called with a shaker gobbler, a box call, primos striker, and mouth calls and they don't seem to care about the calls in the fall. I also use a blind because i dont sit still well and it makes it much easier to draw. Good luck let us know how you do.
