You have plenty of time yet on the Winter Rye and Clover. The rest? Yeah, time to get them in.

Be glad to get them in but it's too wet here to even float over with an atv at the moment. No way I can get the no-till out and run it through standing water, lol. I still have about 45 acres of cool season food stuffs to get in....I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of spreading with the little tractor and fertilizer cart next week. Take a chance on it coming up or maybe light disk it in with the 4x4 and three point disk. I have a plotmaster but it's meh and takes forever to cover acreage.

Our two plots sites are currently under 4 feet of water :( Dang flood. Still holding out hope that the water will go down soon enough to get them in. Better late than never.

I got mine in last weekend. We hadn't gotten any rain on them until a little rain shower came through this evening so I think they'll all germinate next week, should be pretty good timing. Normally I like to wait until the middle of August, but the local meterologists have been calling for a "cooler than normal" fall this year and possibly an early winter so I wanted to get my dwarf essex rape and purple top turnips in a little early. Last year we only had about an acre of the rape/turnips blend but this year I've got almost 5 acres put into them - that wore me out last weekend!

It's getting close, I'm pretty excited this year.

12 total acres are officially done. 900 lbs. winter rye, 25 lbs. ptt/radishes, 150 lbs. rape and a white clover strip. Rain dance time.

Yep, my 15th year doing this.Pumpkin strips are really nice. Did a 5,000 lineal foot clear cut 30 foot wide in a cedar swamp and raked in 25 lbs. of Alsike clover into the humps. Came in great.

Pumpkins are an under rated and under appreaciated food source. We raised 15 acres of pumpkins for 20 years here in our truck patch operation and deer and turkey love them late winter. I still raise about five acres but manual labor sucks too much time. Love watching them grow.

I like conneticut fields for food plots, they aren't great for retail sale but the problems that make them poor for retail makes them great for food plots, thin rind and they soften up earlier than others. They are also cheap.

Awesome! Is this the latest you planted this mix? You always said you had it in by August.

I got my winter rye/pea brassicas planted also in Waupaca county, but that even close to that much acreage :) . Looks like rain here Sunday/Monday I hope!

No, Last year Caroline Equipment sat on my JD repair till mid August. This year my feedmill could not get the rye seed so I bought from Jay-Mar in Waupaca on Wed.. It will be fine. I like giving the ptt/radishes/rape plenty of grow time.

Biggest limiting factor for you is going to be bow season opening. Just get it planted ASAP but you have some time yet from a weather stand point. Wheat planted too early will joint and freeze, I planted wheat December 4th here last year and it had some emergence problems and problems tillering properly but otherwise did fine.

Ideal time here to plant wheat is after Oct. 1st for a crop. If deer are going to graze it heavy then jointing may not be such an issue either and typically isn't worried about too much in food plots anyway. Clover isn't a problem anyway, plant it.

Equipment? What's there now? Tillage is a little overblown...if grass and weeds...spray with an atv with heavy glyphosate+extra surfactant+ AMS additive...wait an hour and spread that seed and watch close a week after a good rain.
