I'm looking for suggestions for a tiny <1/2 acre plot. Very little sun, as this plot is in the middle of the woods. Any suggestions? Thanks!

hard to say what will grow in that little bit of sunlight. I tried planting everything on a logging trail that is under the canopy of trees with filtered light and finally gave up.

Only thing I think that would be worth a try would be winter rye this late in Wisconsin or a throw and grow (no sweat) mix will get a little growth before a frost hits. Just to see what happens.

What kind of equipment you have to work with?

I have my two hands and a rake! already sprayed/killed the weeds and tilled up the nice black dirt. Just not much sunlight in there to get anything other than weeds growing!

Winter rye is pretty resistant in low light conditions and is probably your ticket as suggested above. You could try and mix in some oats and clover - but the rye should take!

I do my plots by hand and I have had decent luck with Antler King no sweat and a little better luck with Biologic Hot Spot. I have also tried many others but those two have worked best for me.

I wasnt sure at first if you are just looking to start a plot now and had no prep work done. But ya, that is good on what you have done. If some weeds grew there you should be ok.

Do you have a 4 wheeler? or even a riding lawnmower to hook something up to and drag around?

If all you have is a rake, then broadcast your seeds and if you want fertilizer (maybe a bag of 10-10-10 from Fleet Farm) then rake everything lightly covering it with dirt.

Would winter wheat work, or does that need full sun?

Rye, wheat, red clover will all work. Put the rye or wheat over the red clover. The red clover will the come up next spring. Don't forget to pray for a little rain.
