Did we ever officially choose a captain? I'm ok with whoever, I just couldn't see anything for sure.

I think we went with Clinton for captain but I could be mistaken.

I'm guessing I didn't get drawn for the other city hunt I applied for since I haven't heard anything from them. I guess we'll have to do this the hard way. On another note I'm going to check a cam, pull a stand, and put a couple more cams out today. I'll update if there's anything good.

Perfect morning to hang my stand. Very light drizzle until I was leaving and then it started coming down good. I also removed what was left of the trophy rock and pulled my card from the trail cam there. Had a few new bucks show up, but only two peeked my interest.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Yea, all I've gotten so far has been a couple small non-shooters.

Well good news and bad news. Good news I have a nice buck still coming around every so often so he's out there some where. Bad news is my first card pull he was showing up all times of day now it's only in the middle of the night. Also he only showed up 3 separate times in a little under a month. One time he stayed in front of the camera for over a half hour which I thought was interesting. Anyway here he is...

We're headed out to our farms in Ohio this weekend. Can't wait to check my trail cams. Going to do some trail and lane trimming. Season opens September 29th.

There's a lot of bucks in PA that look like that. All I'm seeing is 3 spikes traveling together.

He might start moving in the daylight again about the start of November. I've had 4 or 5 bucks do that on me.

I make no promises, but I'm going to try and get out this afternoon and get some lane clearing done. If not, then Monday looks pretty good. I have one stand I want to hang, but cutting shooting lanes is more important with the limited time I have.

I'm sure he will but the bigger challenge will be finding him after he sheds his velvet. Trying to cast a net of cameras in the area in different funnels and pinch points to try to lock down on his fall range.

Any idea where that deer might go to bed? Great looking buck!

That's what I'm trying to figure out now. It's big woods so patterns are difficult to come by. No real distinct feeding or bedding areas. If I get a chance maybe I'll post a map and see what you guys think. I don't think I'd have to worry about the risks of posting a map since it is public land but you never know I guess.

Looking good. That buck in pic #2 is a stud.

Here are a couple of pics I got after the season closed last January. Hopefully these guys show up with new headgear. I don't have any cameras out there right now.

I'll sometimes put a cam or two out on my first hunt and take them down my last. Haven't done it in a couple years so I mainly hunt blind in stands that have been in place for years. Worked out pretty well so far, but I normally don't know what's around until I lay eyes on it, normally during the rut.

Anyhow, the buck I shot last year was well known by a neighboring property owner. Had chased him for at least 3 seasons and had several pics of him and the past 2 years sheds. Friended me on facebook and sent some images to me.

He just posted this guy on Facebook, this was back in m8d July and very well could be this guy from last year but not 100% certain. He still had some growing left, just not sure how much.

Wouldn't mind seeing either of them walk past this season.

Just had my bubble burst a little bit. That is indeed the same buck, alive and well. He's just in another county on a different property

At least I now know not to hold out for him. There's still a lot of big bucks where I hunt. November cannot get here soon enough....
