No deer from the stand. Did see something moving through the swamp but I looked more dog than deer. Big wolf print right where I had my stand. Drove around the outskirts of town after dark and found a couple more potential spots. I had hopes of a good buck running around because my dad saw a good 10 in the middle of the day on the highway leaving town on Wednesday. Guessing he got hit by a car though because there was a deer on the side of the highway with it’s head cut off. Never know maybe there’s a couple running around there. Back in that set in the AM. I hunted yesterday and did an all day sit between two stands. I have a stand hung in a spot I've sat for the past three years. I call it "the frustration stand" for too many reasons to list. I decided to hunt from my climber until 11:00 am in an area I passed a 120" buck before Thanksgiving. I was then going to move over to the hang on stand I have for a mid-day hunt and then move back to my climber in the same area for the evening hunt. I didn't see anything in the morning but it looks like a great spot. I moved to the other stand at 11:00 and pulled the card off the camera I have there but couldn't look at it until I got home. I sat until 3:00 pm and moved back to the original stand. I had a young 8pt walk in and go right under my stand. He looked like a great 1 year old or a small 2 year old. I let him go. When I got home, I checked the SD card from the stand I got to at about 11:20 am. Looks like I should have hunted that stand first as this guy walked by my stand at 10:30 am!
No deer from the stand again this morning. Bumped 2 deer on my way in this morning that I’m assuming to be the same doe n fawn I bumped last night. Going to pick up a camera now from my cabin. Has been up for 2 months. Kind of forgot about it. Maybe there’ll be something on there. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just curious, how much time does everyone have in the stand this year? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I don't log hours. I sat opening morning(10/1) for about 4 hours, then didn't get back out until Halloween weekend. Think I went out 6 days during my 10 day vacation but not all were all day sits. Taking a guess I went out 9 times and probably 40 hours or less and most likely on the less side. Both kills came by 8am or so, a couple half day sits and a few all dayers. Haven't been back out since Nov. 10th. Might get out this next weekend if it snows
I'm not sure how many hours, but i have 8 sits in this year. My less is more strategy seems to have paid off as I have killed my biggest buck and a doe. I have seen more bucks this year than I have in the last 2-3 years combined. I also skipped running trail cameras this year. I do miss looking through all the pictures, but on the other hand, not obsessing over "shooter" bucks has been a relief in some ways.
During an observation sit this morning. I have yet to see a deer in daylight on this new public piece. I have seen plenty of deer sign though Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

So just looked at the current entries in it, only 3 have entered thus far. Myself, another guy here at work(mid one teens 8 point) and another decent 120's 8 point. The 120's 8 point has ineligible next to his entry as he is an employee and relative to the owners of the company hosting the contest. Being December now and only 2 entries that count I'm kinda excited to see what happens. The whole reason I entered was because I didn't think it would have much action for some reason. Hope I am right. Not sure when it ends but if it were today it would be worth $1k!
With those kind of prizes, I can't imagine the word getting out and having all kinds of entries. I hope you get it.
Part of it is they didn't announce it until just before shotgun season, and it was by email to the purchasing agents for the company. Our purchasing agent just happens to be a deer hunter so he got the word out. I shot my buck on the 8th and they didn't get the email sent until like the 10th or something. Said you have to have their hat on in the picture with the deer. Well, after you sign up they send you a hat. Others who shot their buck before getting a hat, or even knowing about the contest, like me probably won't enter. Only reason I did was they said go ahead and enter. My only concern is the photo showing doesn't have their hat although I did submit one holding the rack with their hat. Time will tell, would suck to lose on a technicality though.
Just remember who was the first to volunteer to help you spend it! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yea that would really suck, especially with that kind of money and the other entries are so much smaller.
