One of the big things is make sure you get your pictures before anything else and score your buck.

Never been in contention so it never really hurt, but seems every year I've played someone has either forgotten to take the pics correctly(or not at all) or took the buck to a taxi and never got the score posted.

I'm usually good for 2 deer, especially now that I have changed up how I hunt. Rather than early and often I have restrained myself to late October and early November and hit it hard for 10 days straight.

    Probably just jinxed myself

If I don't get picked for a city hunt that will make things more difficult for me. The areas I hunt in MN are one deer either sex limits. That being said I put 2 deer on the board last year. My muley from SD and a little 8 from here in MN. So it can be done it's just more difficult.

I know there is at least 1 monster in the woods I hunt. I had a shot on him last year, but came up low. Side note, how many years does this make for me and Born2Hunt being on the same team?

Sounds good to me on the name. Whatever you guys decide is good to me.

Who all here uses climbing sticks and stand as a mobile setup? This is my first season using the lone wolf sticks and stand. I have been using my lone wolf hand climber for all my past 4 seasons.
If you do use the sticks and stand, how heavy is your setup? Mine seems to be extremely heavy, 12 pounds heavier than my climber.

I'm fine with that name too.

I have a set of lone wolf sticks and two stands. Not really comfortable enough with them yet to run n gun and no idea what it weighs. How's that for helpful? Haha

Ugh, had to bring up stands.

I have 2 lonewolfs and an XOP with two sets of climbing sticks.

Used one of the lonewolfs as a permanent set 2 seasons ago and now they just hang in the garage.

The woods I hunt just aren't very run and gun friendly.

Why's that? I know where I'm at it's tough because it's just so thick you almost always have to do some trimming.

Just really dense where it is wooded, lots of undergrowth and sapplings. My uncle mows the clearings and has prehung stands in the better places. I usually hang a stand where I have previously sat in a permanent stamd and watched them skirt by. Worked like a charm in 2011, but not much since.

I get ideas every season but when I go to carry it out I realize how much it would take to either clear a route to the stand or how visible I would be where I would sit.

Found it easiest and most productive just to sit the stands already in place, uncle has been hunting this smallish property 50 years, got 4 on the wall and should be 5 since I started hunting it in 2007.

Oct. 1st here, but likely won't hunt until late month unless we get a good cool period.

September 1 in Wyoming for elk and deer. I'll be focused on elk from the 10th through the 16th. If I kill an elk I'll hunt deer. If not, I'll return around Thanksgiving to hunt the tail end of the rut. Got some decent deer in that area. Oklahoma starts on October 1 but I won't likely hunt before the 20th. That season goes to January 15. I have a hunt booked in Kansas from November 10 through the 14th. Plenty of season and hopefully I can connect with a shooter. :deer:
