Are you still out hunting for a buck Hammer? They seem to still be rutting here in PA. I watched to smaller bucks really go after fighting on Tuesday night. That was the first I saw any fighting this year.
Yes I am. I'm going Saturday morning. We are still seeing rutting activity. I called a 6 pt in last Friday with a snort wheeze. And had a spike come to the base of my tree after a went through a grunting sequence. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Hopefully. This guy was only 2 1/2 and I think it's one I haven't seen since opening weekend. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
The rain finally moved in for the day. Should be able to get a few hours in the stand tomorrow morning. Here's a short video of the young guy from this morning. At the end of the video he's right under my other stand on the ridge that I hunted yesterday morning. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
He went off in the same direction as the buck chasing before shooting light. It's finally getting started down here in GA. It's just a matter of time before a good one comes by. Shot at what would have been my biggest buck on December 6th last year. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
It varies weeks to months within the state. The southern rut is really screwed up. It also makes it tough when guns are allowed from mid October until season closes. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yes, day after Christmas starts another four weeks of opportunity in my WMU. The thing is, at this stage of the game the deer have been hassled to the point where they won't move until it's almost dark. At least this is the case in my woods.
Yes I’ll be hanging n hunting Saturday evening then back in to the set Sunday morning. That’s the plan anyway. The plan might change a bit but I’ll be hunting for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Out again this morning, but I’m in a new spot. I am literally sitting in a lawn chair on the ground in a spot no one has been at all this year. I’m probably going back to a climber we have set up that no one has been to either this afternoon.
Completely quiet this morning, not even a distant gunshot. I'm patiently waiting for the water level to drop at my public land spot. It's about the only way to access it without a boat of some sort. Been looking for a good deal on a boat to make access easier. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Come back out this afternoon with the bow, and I’m not in the stand for 5 minutes and I have two spikes walk up on me. Only action I’ve seen in 3 weeks.
Didn’t get either of them, but I’ll be back in this other new spot again tomorrow morning and see what happens.
I'm going to do an evening sit tomorrow at the spot where I saw the group of 5 bucks on Tues evening. I saw this wide six point, one of the group, the last 2 times I hunted this stand. He's obviously not a big buck, but he's got neat character with decent mass and good brow tines, which is a rarity in my woods. He took the same exact route both times I've seen him, but it's too far (60yrds) from my current stand location. I will try to find a decent tree a bit closer to where these deer are coming from, because by the time they feed their way to my current stand set, it's too dark for a shot. Sooo, maybe I can still add some more points to our team total.
Back at home getting batteries for lights because I have tracking to do. Misjudged the distance, so I hit high. I did for sure hit him, because the Launch Pad lit up and you can't see it in the ground. Because of how the branches on the other trees are, I know it's not back. 99% sure I got high lung. I'll keep everyone posted, but I will say he's not huge. Probably going to be a fergie rule.
Awesome! Hope it’s a short blood trail! Be waiting for pics! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
