Congrats on the doe Hammer! I guess that leaves me as the lone teammate without a kill yet. Time to get it done. I am changing jobs at work so not sure what kind of schedule I have going forward. It's not a matter of if I'll have time but just when I'll have time. I know one thing for sure I will be getting out at least a few more times.
Super slow this season on property 1. I did call in a spike and he made a scrape on his way out. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Just entered my Doe that I shot in Ohio last evening. I can not add anymore points, so it's up to our fellow teammates to pull us from behind and back into the lead.
Got out this evening. No deer. Probably give it a go again next weekend Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We're down to 5 team members still able to contribute. 5 have maxed out, one is done for the year and I believe one's season has ended as of today. We can still do this, just need to get @jjnowak's actual score in and we'll know exactly where we stand. Post one has been updated. Good luck the rest of the way. I picked up my 2 deer from the proccessor yesterday and my freezers are nearly full. Not sure I make it back out, unless we get a good snow day to gdt out. Wouldn't mind putting a doe down
The Orange Brigade started yesterday here in PA. I didn't hear as much shooting and by the amount of vehicles parked along the roads it just didn't seem like there were as many hunters out yesterday. I believe more and more hunters in PA are taking up Archery and getting their bucks early. I took my 8 year old granddaughter out yesterday. We did see a 7 point last evening but she couldn't get a shot off. She is very patient for a young hunter and wants to make sure the deer is completely broadside before taking a shot. I'm proud of her for that.
Went for a sit at property 1 for a few hours this morning. It has finally started picking up with activity. Had a small 6 come in chasing does at 8:15. At 9:00 I had a decent 8 come through at 45yds. Didn't feel confident in that distance through the timber. He seemed to be a submissive deer since grunting sent him the other direction. He did walk within 15yds of my stand in the bottom of the holler. Oh well, just my luck... Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm able to hunt today until dark. Got out of the dentist's office sooner than I thought, so I'll give it one last effort. Good luck to anyone else getting out today!
I honestly wasn’t able to get out last weekend. I got a stomach bug or food poisoning on Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. Was only able to eat a few pieces of turkey and a few rolls on thanksgiving. I couldn’t keep anything down on Friday either. I was feeling super weak so I elected to pass until I felt better. Nothing is stopping me this weekend!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Update. Had my best day of action (Pa) this evening. Saw 5 different bucks feeding basically together around 4:15PM. Passed on two basket 8pts at about 10yrds, I was waiting for a real nice shooter 8pt that was feeding further out. He didn't get close enough before light started to fail. It's the most deer I've seen in a day during this whole rut! Best hunt of the year. I don't always have to kill a buck to have a great season.
Is your season not over? I seen you posted in another section the other day about your final hunt of the season. Was under the impression your season had closed. Sounds like and eventful hunt either way
No, our season (WMU 5D) is still open until Dec 9th. I mentioned that before I remembered they gave us an extra 2 weeks here in Special Regs.
I requested today off when I got home on Tuesday. We have to do all that online now. Walk into work yesterday and the first two words my boss says to me are “Bambi killer.” anyway, so I’m again today through Saturday, but it is second firearm season. If I was by myself I’d go with a bow, but my uncle is with me so I have the shotgun. If I get one with it, I’ll come back out with the bow later or tomorrow.
Had a buck pushing a doe before daylight right under me. Couldn't see how big he was. Been quiet since. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Not a minute after posting, I had a decent 7 come by. Nose down and looking for love. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Don't forget that Archery comes back in the Day after Christmas. Here is the schedule for WMU 5D: Dec. 26-Jan. 27, 2018. I live in WMU 5A and it goes out on January 13th.
