On another note I just applied for two special city hunts close to home. If I get drawn for one I will get 4 doe tags and it will make it a lot easier putting a doe down.

I will be hunting Green Ridge state park on September 14, 15, and 16. I'm doing a map reading challenge up there to see if I can just read maps and topography to pick a spot that will get me on a deer. I really hope I get a shot at one! I'll pass a small buck but if he is decent, then I will take him. I will definitely shoot a doe if I can. I'm not for sure how many doe tags I get either or how many I can shoot.

That's out in Western MD. The deer bag limits are on the lower side.
Are you doing this as a part of the Texas DNR job?

Nope, it is just a personal trip up there. I watch a guy online, Sean's outdoor adventures and he does something called the map reading challenge that I wanted to be apart of.
It was either go up there and hunt or go to Colorado and hunt. I would have picked Colorado but since I am getting married on October the 7th, I wouldn't have been able to go for a week and a half in the later have of September. Hopefully next year or the year after I will get up there to hunt in Colorado for elk.

This is the best deer I have on camera so far. Pretty sure he is a 3 year old and if I get a shot there will be no hesitation.

Think this was him last year.

I believe we are only waiting on fishsoft92, hasn't been on since 7/30 but has been around a few years and in at least last years contest. Hopefully he shows up by alternate date.

On a side note, decided last year to have my '13 buck mounted. Taxi called me today and went and grabbed him. Donated cape and it was a double throat patch. Pleased with the result

I don't have any pics of anything really worth going after other than one buck and possibly one other. They usually start showing up consistently in late October through the season.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Hey fellas. I'm not creative so you can't count on me for a name. I've been called lots of names and answer to most of them so whatever we come up with sounds good already. I wanted to suggest that we all try to take a doe for sure. That would give us 600 points and put us in the running. I've done this contest for 5-6 years and the teams that enter a lot of does usually do well. Now that I've said that, I probably won't be in bow range of a doe all year. :)

I don't have any trail cams out mostly because I hunt out of state but if history repeats itself...there will be deer to kill. So I guess I did come up with a couple of names but like I said, I'm not creative and I really don't care what we're called. :)

I'm usually good for a doe no problem. A buck is a different story though...
