I think I have some burnout setting in fellas. 3 deer seen in 8 days and 4 degrees this morning so I chose to sleep in. Planning on heading out in the afternoon. After that it'll be hit and miss as to when I get out. I still have confidence I'll get a doe down eventually. You never know about a buck. I have until the 31st of December. It's easy to get frustrated when you put in so many hours and your just not seeing deer. Hang in there because the Real Rut is just about to begin and you don't want to miss it. You may just end up getting a buck of a lifetime, so hang in there.
Winds have been killing me. Totally wrong direction for one stand. Another stand that the NE wind is good for blows every way but NE . Tomorrow is supposed to be a 6mph wind turning calm. I really hope it holds true, they should be moving pretty good instead of being hunkered down. Need these little guys to get in the bedding areas and get the does on their feet throughout the day, make the big guys search for them.
Yes, on Oct 30 my son and his two buddies were going elk hunting and were in the left lane on the interstate passing a semi. The semi was going about 10 mph and they were doing 80 mph as that is the speed limit. As soon as they got next to the trailer the truck driver decided to turn from the right lane across the left lane to make a U turn on one of those emergency turn around spots between the north and south bound highways. They had nowhere to go but into the side of the semi, bounced off and then rolled 4 times. My son and one buddy are recovering at home. The other is in ICU...we're praying a lot. Thanks for checking. I'm headed to Kansas for five days on Thursday. Will be hunting Friday through Tuesday. If I get a buck it will only count as 50 points but I'm stoked to try for a big one. Good hunting guys, keep at it and kill a few nannies if you can.
Rutcation begins today for me. I'll be in the stand for the next 5 days. High temps will be in the low 50s and lows in the 30s. Should be some good hunting. JGD I hope your son and his buddies pull through and are healthy going forward. Hang in there Kern. Like a hunting buddy always tells me. It's the rut, your luck can turn on a dime. Happy hunting guys. Congrats to the guys who have smashed deer already. Hopefully I can add to our score soon. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Seen 8 gobblers running together at 7:45. At 8:30 two does came across the ridge about 80yds from me. Nothing trailing them though. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
148 6/8" I fall from the glory of the 200 point club. Back at it in the morning, finally starting to happen
Congrats! I wish they would start chasing down here. Seen plenty of does this morning, but nothing trailing behind any of them. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well fellow Legends, I'm off early tomorrow morning for my 8 hour drive to Ohio! I'll be hunting Sat to Tues, and I think things should be rock'n. Hopefully I can add some more points to our total.
I just shot a buck. Shot looked good and was a pass through. Didn't have much time to size up his antlers before the shot. I will send an update once I begin tracking.
Good luck in Ohio. That's a good buck Clinton. Congrats! Hope it's a quick track job Jeff! Looks like I took the wrong week of vacation. Had a bunch of young bucks on my cameras cruising and chasing does. Then had this fatty show up out of no where. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm on stand now. Wind isn't exactly what I would like, but I'm here until dark. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
