I have 3 more grueling days at work to get through. I'll be posting a lot in the live from the stand thread but will update here as well. I have 4 tags in my pocket, I would like to fill 3 this season. If I see enough for numbers I'd fill a 4th if given the chance and get some family and friends a few packs of venison.
Rutcation has officially started. Was snowing a bit tonight. Not sure my bow would have shot if I needed it to. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That's is definitely a pretty picture. I love hunting in the snow! It's a rarity if I get to here in Texas! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Well guys, my rutcation will start this Sat. I'll be hunting until the Nov 18th. Four of those days (Nov 11th-14th) will be in Ohio! Also, I went in yesterday after the heavy morning rain (work canceled), and on the way in I spooked a small 8pt as he was making a scrape, at about 12:30PM!! After getting to my tree and sitting only about 45 mins, that same 8pt comes under me at only 15yrds. I noticed both his brow tines were broken. I'm pretty sure he's one I have a couple pics of. Anyway, I would say this rut thing is a go!
Well this guy passed my stand with 2 does while I was taking a nap back at camp. Glad I wasn't there because I probably would have shot him and I probably would have regretted it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Northern MN. Temps haven't cracked 30 for almost a week and it's been snowing on n off for about a week too. Actually had to sit on the ground twice because my lifelines were frozen and I didn't have another way to tie in. Didn't want to risk it with everything frozen like that. That is a giant!!!!! I would love to hear the experience of the hunt when you get the chance. That is an incredible deer! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I know I'm excited and I didn't even shoot it. I couldn't imagine seeing a deer like that, much less get a shot at it. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
It was a deer that I have known for 4years. He really blew up in size last year. Those are his sheds with him. I let this deer walk 9 times last year because I really thought he could go 200this year. I was after a bigger one last year that I ended up killing a 195. So come this year it was going to be game on for him. Picked up his sheds valentines day and last year had 26 points and would of been 187ish. My first pics this year were early July and I instantly knew he lost points but gained mass and frame. I watched him all summer and was really unsure about hunting him knowing he was under 200 and wondering if I should give him another year. Fast forward to end of october I had my mind set to go after him. I had him at 50 yards for about 15 mins on the 28th and thats when I decided game on. So I hunted him almost daily playing the wind game with him. Then finally on Wednesday night in the rain he came in hot on a doe running her hard. I had him right below me couldn't get him to stop I at that point was yelling at him to stop. Then at 32 yrds he stopped giving me a quarting away shot. Watched him run into the field and tip over. 1000s of pics, spent 100s of days with the spotting scope on him and years of sheds and now the story is complete. Not one of my highest scoring deer but means more to me then any other buck ive killed
What a great story. You truly worked for that deer!! Super happy it worked all out! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
