Nice bucks guys! Good to see deer hitting the dirt. This cold front is ridiculous. I just got back from South Dakota tonight. Saw a bunch of deer and a bunch of good deer. Unfortunately I did not kill anything. I missed a doe at 60 in some pretty strong winds. I let my guard down for a split second and had a good muley bust out from 15 yards in front of me. I also stalked to 10-15 yards on a bedded 10 point whitetail but when I got there it was so thick I had no shots. So I had some opportunities I just couldn't close the deal. Planning on checking cams and hunting Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Hoping to get a buck down before rifle season opens on the 4th. Let's keep it rolling! Nice work Born! Aaron tell your new wife you’ll cuddle every night...right after deer season. I sat in a stand all day and saw a squirrel. Nothing else.
Delaware/Mont county. I sat for 5 hours yesterday, heard some deer activity near dark, but I didn't see a thing. So, I didn't leave my stand for an all day sit today, but I'll be back in this afternoon! It'll get cranking up any day now!
Well got it done a bit early this year but worth it. He came in Crusien for does at 730. He was gonna go to the bottom of the hill but I hit the grunt softly and had his attention I hit once more and I got him to turn which he gave me a 25 yard shot..winds yesterday were around 20mph and temps were in the 30s. The buck only went about 60 yards. Good luck everyone! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Saw three does and a small 6 or 8 pt this am. My friend was about 150 yds away and saw our hit list buck. The area I'm in had about 10-15 fresh rubs that look like they were done within the last 24 hours. Hoping I can add to our team score. Congrats on the two bucks killed. Well, my firet weekend out since opening day didn't go exactly as planned. Shot a doe yesterday morning at first light. Sounded good, and arrow looked good but I was not shooting a lighted knock so I couldn't see the hit from stand. Got down and looked at arrow and it had a solid smear of blood, but also had white hair on the nock. That part concerned me. Walked up the hill a few yards and found a nice pool of blood and bubbles. The bubbles tuned out to be dew droplets. Long story short, I got on her trail twice and both times the blood clotted up. Went up a steep ridge and onto neighbors property. Ended up calling it a day in disgust. Seen 7 dies and a basket 8. Went today and seen 3 does and a spuke before calling it late morning. Don't hunt evening when I have to work the next day, the processor closes early and I feel I may be catching a cold. Should have stayed yesterday as they were on their feet all day. 4 days of work and rutcation begins. I need and will get redemption.
Someone sounds determined...I like it. Bummer on the doe. Hope you get your redemption. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Pics as promised.....I put it up on the scoring post as well. Hit her a little forward of where I was aiming, but the arrow passed through both shoulder blades. She only went about 60 yards and went down. Now time to focus on a buck.
Congrats again! Man, I'm telling ya, if we can all get something on the board we stand a great chance of a podium finish. This is the best start I have ever been on. I should have had 50 yesterday, I still have no clue what went wrong. The magic starts this week, I still have high hopes. Does get a pass from here until after my vacation, focus is now on a buck.
'If we can all get something on the board.' No pressure haha. My rutcation starts today and I'm in the same boat with shooting does. They will get a pass until I shoot a buck or until later in November. I'll be checking 3 cams today and hopefully sitting this evening. Have snow on the ground and still a little falling. Should be able to see if they've been moving. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It’s a good morning so far. I saw a spike at first light and a broken up 9 point freshening up his scrapes. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Seen a little six this morning at 8:30. At 8:45, I missed one of my shooters. Nice wide 8 dropped just under the 160fps arrow out of my recurve. My fault. Should have known to aim a little lower because he was a little on edge. Sent from my N9518 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I just got back from Ohio. What a crazy weather weekend. It rained Saturday and Sunday and was windy this morning. We are heading back on Friday and I'm really hoping it's better. It still seems a little early for rutting activity. Definitely plenty of scrapes but I didn't see any chasing whatsoever. Hoping to get a couple evening hunts in here at home this week before I go back.
