Hammer, we need to talk. I'm a striper fishing machine. Aaron, where are you in Texas? I'm in McKinney. Looking forward to the season fellas. I will be hunting elk and deer in Wyoming this year and also have deer tags in Kansas and Oklahoma. I live in Texas but don't hunt here. Really hoping for some success this year. My son is Dubbya on the site and I really want to beat him this year.
Aaron and JGD, I plan on hunting in Texas this year with a friend of mine who goes out there every year. We will be hunting on public land there as well. Any who, I'm Derrick. I live in the big deer mecca of the country... the southeast (GA). I hunt primarily public land, but do have a few small 20ac properties to hunt though. I'm usually good for 50pts though guys. I do have a few potential shooter bucks on one of the small properties here in GA, but they are tough to hunt.
From what I'm seeing, we only have 2 not checked in. After they make a showing it will be time to pick a team captain (which I can't do), and pick a team name. I'm looking forward to this season!!
jjnowak checking in. My name is jeff and I hunt urban land in NW Ohio (Lucas County). Good luck everyone.
I'll shoot some team name ideas out there if I come up with any. I've been team captain the past 5 years if no onr else wants it. If someone else wants it I'm good with that.
I am in Texarkana. Literally on the state line with Arkansas. It says you are about 2 and a half hours away from me. Super jealous that you are going elk hunting. It is definitely on the list! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm definitely down to go hunting with you guys if I can! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We will be hunting Davy Crockett or Sam Houston. Not sure exactly which one we are heading to. He has killed a few nice ones out there.
Those are both south and I have heard good things about those public lands! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Aaron, Where in Maryland are you hunting? I mainly hunt the Eastern shore close to where I grew up. Clint, I think we were on the same team last year. I'll be hunting a week in Colorado for elk mid September. The 14-19. Btw... My name is Keith. Our bow season kicks off Sept 8 or 9. Definitely counting the days. Indeed, November can't get here soone enough. Get a good cool snap in Oct. And I may give it a whirl but normally is too warm. Woyld be awesome to get a good cold snap earlt November for a change. Couple years ago had snow on the ground in November, the next year had a leopard frog hopping through the woodside clearing I was hunting. Canceled my vacation and switched to the following week.
Hoping to see this guy come November, as far as I know he is still roaming the area I hunt. Can't imgine what he would look like this season. Neighboring property owner had him on cam as well as the one I shot last season. One can only hope and dream Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Hey Keith we were on a team a couple years back. Are you going to the same area of Colorado you did that year? I remember we were both elk hunting the same region of Colorado that year. This year I'll be heading to GMU 54 the 14-22.
I remember. Yes I'm going back to the same spot. Guide sent me this pic couple days ago. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I hope you and I can bring home a nice bull this year. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
It's like that elk is saying 'come and get me'. That will get you excited. Only a month out now! Good luck out there.
Question for you guys do you think mosquitoes bother deer? Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I've never noticed it bothering them, but I did pull videos from one trailcam and the biting flies were all over the deer. Really jumpy and twitchy to keep them off.
I never thought about it but now that you mention it I have 2 cameras out in one area and the camera that the mosquitos are terrible at always has less pictures. There are a lot of other factors that could play in but it's an interesting thought. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
