Whoops. I accidentally counted from June 6th. Yeah I am really impressed with the growth. I am going to put some 19-19-19 down this week to give it a boost.

Last time I was in my food plot I noticed that some weeds were coming up into the plot and that a lot of the brassicas and turnips were stunted. I was talking with pastorandrew about it and decided I needed to do some maintenance. I went in and mowed the entire plot down to about 3"-4". Then I went and put down some 19-19-19. Tomorrow I am going to put down a couple of bags of pelletized lime.

Just got back from checking the plot. Last week I had mowed the plot and there was some concern that the broadleaf brassicas and radishes might be negatively affected. I am happy they weren't. I out the mower as high as possible and it looks like they were not affected at all. There is some really good bulb growth on the plants that weren't in the areas that were over seeded. The stuff that was a little over seeded looks like it took the 19-19-19 well and is getting good growth as well. Hopefully over the next few weeks the fertilizer will really kick in and the bulbs will start to expand.

Another weekly update. Looks like the plot is really taking in the 19-19-19. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

One week before the season and the broadleafs are really turning it on. They are about 18" tall and checking all of them they look like most of them have bulb growth on them. Clover is just as good.

It has been two weeks since I have been home to check the food plot. I checked it after this mornings sit and was very pleased with it.

Another update here. Everything is looking very good in the plot now. All the clover and broadleafs are around 20" tall. Here is also a good bit of deer browse and traffic through it. I put up a Covert in the plot to see what I can get pics of. We have some cold weather coming so hopefully the sugars will start to flow and the deer will be in it.

Finally started to get some pictures in the food plot. I made a mock scrape right next to the plot and the deer movement has really picked up. Hopefully this movement will continue and the deer will be in the plot come late season.

Went back to the plot this weekend and found awesome sign. The tops of every plant were gone and there were bulbs pulled out of the ground. I moved a Covert to the plot to see what is using it. We are getting a major cold front in the next few days so they should be in it for sure.

How many years has your brassicas food plot been established? This will be my first year with mine in the ground and i'm already getting browsing on the leaves. I'm hoping that the deer will take to the turnip and radish bulbs in the winter too.

    Plots are looking good Aaron!

This is the first year. It is also only the second food plot I have ever done. pastorandrew has some awesome seed blends. I read that it may take a few years for the deer to catch on but our deer have already found it.

Just a few pictures from this week. We got some cold temps this week and snow and the deer were living the greens.

We wont get snow until later into January and February but can't wait to see how the deer take on to it. So far they're browsing the green leaves.

Deer are really starting to dig into the plot. There were bulbs laying everywhere and you could see where the deer stood and ate. Here are some bucks that were in it this week.

A few more from this week. I wasn't expecting much since our firearms season opened on Monday but was glad to see a few bucks and deer in it...

Lots of deer are using our food plot now. On a really good note one of our shooters just showed up. He made it through the firearms season and has been in the plot 3 days in the past week.

These look to be the two biggest bulbs that I have found in the plot. The long bulb is about 8" and the round bulb is about 4" in diameter. I did check cameras and got some more bucks. I will post those later. We have some cold weather and snow rolling in this week so the deer should get moving and be looking for those greens when second archery starts Friday.
