QAD ultrarest hdx is an excellent rest. it's quiet, has great containment, 0 issues with clearance, is made in america, and seems to be built very tough. I previously shot the NAP apache which worked fine as well, i had no complaints with it other than the fact that it was made in china.
what is the new new rest from QAD? i saw it on mathews website it has harmonic dampeners on it and looks very solid. i wana put one on my ballistic when it comes in
Archery arrow rests....the biggest gimmicks in the industry are right there! Keep it simple at best! We have go to all limb driven rests due to the ease of setup and tuning along with the fact you dont have to tie off to the down cable...I HATE THAT! I can't even tell you how many of those full capture this and that's we have removed and thrown into the garbage for one reason or another. I would shoot a whisker biscuit over most of those!
Same story I have heard over and over again about both rip cord and the other one, forgot the name. I have seen several shooters leave the course with the cord ripped off into the rest...I then understood where they came up with the name but the locking into the up postition is the most popular fail and it usually occurs at the worst possible time.
I'm not sure why the discontinued it but mine has never let me down, got a buddy that's been shooting one since it came out and swears by it. He's bought like two extras just in case too lol
I have 2 Apache's. The original and the Carbon. One is going on a year old and the other is almost two. Had some issues with tuning the carbon but, turned out to be more the bow. I would recommend both.
I use the the original limbdriver on all 4 of my compound hunting bows going on 4-5 years now. I will not use anything else.
I have a ripcord code red. It has been a great rest. It's going on 2 years old and I'm starting to see some issus though. 2 other guys I work with have them and they too think they're a great rest. 1. The bolts rust, quickly, easily - No problem, RC sent me a new set, no questions asked 2. The containment bar is rubber. So if something pushes on it (say when in your case) the bar will move and not return until you bend it back (I didn't check this last night before shooting and ruined a quick fletch). 3. The containment bar uses a tiny screw in the top. If it gets bumped it becomes loose. Then your arrow will hit it... If I had to do over again I'd spend the extra and get the QAD, HDX. Apaches get awesome reviews but I don't like having to draw the arrow up. Just me though.
