This is the I've heard of this but apparently the Atlanta Falcons have been artificially pumping in crowd noise during home games. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-investigation-of-fake-crowd-noise-in-atlanta Now this will be interesting considering what we just went through with deflategate. The article points out that they could be fined or lose a draft pick because of this, punishment similar to what New England would've if found guilty. The interesting part will be those who feel the Patriots get "picked on" more than any other NFL team, this story and how much attention it gets should be a pretty good test to that. Jay, I hate to admit it but I have been to the cesspool that was the HHH Metrodome. The Vikings did the same thing the falcons did but that was before the NFL passed a rule forbidding it. I am not singling out the purple many dome teams have done it in the past.
"Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank introduced new head coach Dan Quinn, fresh off the plane from Phoenix, on Tuesday. And after the requisite excited-to-be-here's from Quinn, talk turned to the ongoing investigation of the Falcons regarding allegations of faked crowd noise at the Georgia Dome. Blank was unequivocal, saying he was "angry and embarrassed" that the NFL is looking into whether Atlanta piped in crowd noise to impact play during Falcons home games over the last two seasons. He acknowledged wrongdoing, telling the AP "I think what we've done in 2013 and 2014 was wrong." The NFL is expected to issue the results of its investigation in the next few weeks. "We cooperated fully" with the investigation, Blank said. "We certainly support the integrity of the league, the integrity of fair competition and the integrity of the shield," he said. "We are not happy about it." It's worth noting that if in fact the Falcons did pipe in crowd noise to impact or distract opposing teams, that's a far more serious offense than any deflated footballs could possibly be, since crowd noise has a measurable effect on a team's ability to do its job. The Falcons are facing a fine, loss of draft pick, or both."
Does anybody have any idea what the piped in noise was? Loud music or did they just have open mics that would pick up crowd noise and amplify it over the PA system? Can't imagine there has been much to cheer about watching the Falcons the last 2 seasons.
That's kinda the point though. The Patriots "spygate" incident was also something most people did in the past. There are some reports out there saying the pressure of the football is also going on more than being reported.
was crowd noise... ATL football fans in general are fair weather fans, actually all ATL sports fans are it's part of the reason we couldn't keep a hockey team TWICE! If you win they come watch you if you lose a game or two the stadium is half empty... ATL FOOTBALL fans need to take a page out of the Raiders fans play book..
I can only imagine how many rules are being bent or broken around the league to gain some sort of advantage. Even though Cleveland sports teams have either sucked or had bad luck the past 20 years, they've always had packed stadiums/arenas for all their teams. It has to be frustrating for an owner/team to have bandwagon or fair weather fans...still not a reason to do something like this, but it has to be demoralizing.
