Anybody else try it? I usually have a big glass of chocolate milk after my evening bike ride. I had a friend tell me about the Fairlife so I tried it, it is really good stuff. I like the fact that it has more protein and less fat too. I was a skeptic when I learned it was owned by coca cola but hey if it is good stuff with less fat why not.
Sweetened with Sucralose and costs more than organic. Not what you would really expect from a product that is marketed by Coca-Cola as a "healthy" alternative. I took a look at it when it first came out and passed. Just not a fan of the chemicals. I'm sure the flavor is great and I like the idea of a higher protein for a recovery drink.
i tried the whole milk. It was disgusting! Almost tasted sour and didnt smell much better. Expiration was two weeks out. That was my one and only try. Organic Valley has my vote.
Yeah I am looking at it compared to regular chocolate milk so less of the sucralose is actually a bonus.
We get it every once in a while in our house. It's definitely an option for people who have GI issues from milk with lactose. I thought it tasted fine, different, but fine. It's not technically organic, due to some of the feeding practices not meeting the FDA's definition of "organic" but they do not dose their cows with hormones. The reason it's not considered organic is because they aren't 24/7 free-range in a pasture. Their cows are fed corn, soy, alfalfa, and grains just like organic cows. The fact that it's marketed and distributed by Coca-Cola should NOT be a put off, it doesn't mean Coca-Cola is tricking people into drinking something claimed to be healthy that's not, they simply market and distribute the product, they don't have any part in Fair Oaks farms or the bottling of the milk.
That's nonsense Internet garbage that bloggers came up with to try and smear the product. It's no different than other milk, it's just filtered, has the lactose removed, and then everything is recombined in different proportions to make the product that they intended it to be, an all natural, lactose-free, higher protein milk. Only their chocolate milk has additives (which if you find a cow that produces natural chocolate milk, then you would be a gazillionare). From their site: Where does the extra protein and calcium come from in fairlife® ultra-filtered milk? It comes directly from the milk! We filter our milk into its five components (water, butterfat, protein, vitamins & minerals, lactose) and then recombine them in different proportions. So we never need to add protein or calcium powders – it’s already in the milk!
Uh, I came up with that and I'm not a blogger trying to smear anything. Thats like saying Wonder Bread is "all natural". I'm not an "athelete" and I get plenty of protein from a wide ranging diet, which includes some normal milk. I don't need "enriched milk"....
Well it was just ironic that you used the term "frankenmilk" which was blasted across the Internet from bloggers who have it out for Fairlife (for whatever reason). Either way, you are one person, there are many kids and women who don't get enough protein or calcium, or those who get upset stomachs from lactose in "regular" milk, and therefore Fairlife is an option. It's not just for athletes as you said, and it's not "frankenmilk". It has all the same ingredients as "regular" milk, just in different proportions as well as the lactose is removed.
Opened the fridge last night and noticed a jug of Fairlife Chocolate milk and thought, how Ironic..... So I tried it last night. It was good, not great but good. I'm not typically a milk drinker though.
I thought the same, it's ok, different, but ok. Over cereal I couldn't even notice. But, now that I think about it, Fairlife could be a good base for a protein shake to save on protein powder after a workout. Use the chocolate Fairlife with one less scoop of chocolate protein powder than you might use otherwise. Or even to make your own shake, maybe a cup of Fairlife, a few tablespoons of Jiff low-sodium all natural peanut butter, (which I think is awesome by the way), a banana, and some ice - boom, a peanut butter and banana protein shake.
