Fact or Fiction: Big Bucks Make Big Rubs

    I can confirm, big rubs mean big bucks. I agree with Fitz and Clinton. Small bucks will use big rubs but they don't generally start them. I usually have a couple of light poles that get rubbed and a couple of fiber optic cable marker poles that get rubbed up every year. You can usually see the brow tine marks and forehead hair on them. A smaller buck couldn't even get his forehead on those poles without being able to get his antlers around the pole in some form or fashion.

    The height of the rub as opposed to the width of the rub seems to be much more telling of a bigger buck.

    I'm gunna agree with Virginia. I've seen big (for my area) bucks use smaller sapling trees for rubs. but they're usually a lot higher of the ground. I've even seen a rub on a med. width tree with a rub 6 or 7 inches above the lower one almost like a smaller buck came by and made a rub and then a bigger buck came by and used the same tree..
