Not to get a truck bashing thread going, but I'm sure most people on this forum drive trucks and are quite familiar with them. Which do you prefer out of these and why? I like all of them, but lean more towards the F150 because of the look and the numbers it puts up.

actually the Dodge Ram gets the best gas mileage and has a nice cab. The tundra has the largest crew cab. Ford and Chevy have tradition. But to me any truck will do they all do the same thing and at some point in time a truck will get stuck and it will have to be pulled out. so in the end I would have to say that the best is the one that gets from point A.................................................................................................................................. to B

I only have experience with Mid size trucks but between my personal vehicle and the many work vehicles I drive, I would list them at Toyota, Ford, Chevy, and dodge last (Our new Dakotas suck). I have no experience with Nissan or GMC

The newer Ford F150 commercials are advertising that the new ones are getting 21mpg, which is supposedly the best mpg in its class.

The new f150 has also increased cab size. I'll never drive anything but a ford.

I'm a little leery of the Ecoboost in hilly areas. I feel that it would be spooling too much, but I only personally know one person locally who has test drove one, and was very impressed by the power. Personally, if I were buying an F150 now, I would opt for the 5.0. A little more refined and proven, only gets 1mpg less city, and 2 less highway.

With that being said, I rode to Nags Head this summer in a 2010 F150 Crew Cab and the seats were terrible. EVERYONE (5 of us) were complaining about being uncomfortable after a few hours. Not sure what their leather seats are like, but that turned me off a bit.

I drive a Toyota Tacoma, and there isn't really any competition for them in the Midsize market, and their numbers (sales figures and retention of resale value) show. The logical option for me when I decide to upgrade would be the Tundra. While everyone "Oo's" and "Ah's" over the 5.7, I think I might opt for the 4.6. A little better mpg, but more importantly it doesn't suffer the increasingly common AIP issues owners are having and Toyota not honoring the warranty on the fix.

I like the power of the titan, but that's where it ends.

Dodge, I have no experience, but speaking cosmetically, they tend to have the most front end rake of all the trucks and while I know why trucks should have a slight front end rake, I don't like that much.

Chevy/GMC vehicles are some of the most comfortable I've ridden in to date. I just associate them with grandpappy trucks though:D (no offense guys).

In the end, they are all pretty solid trucks if you take care of them. If you research the internet, you will find your die hard fanboys (much like bow fanatics) that swear by their brand one way or another, but in the end EVERY manufacturer has lemons.

I've always been a Ford guy. This is based on owning all the brands. Fords have just worked really well for me.
However, you can sit in your recliner and in one night watch the big 3 all claim to have the most power, hauling weight, and best mileage. I've driven them all and to me, well I just prefer the Ford still. That doesn't mean I won't reccommend other brands. The new Toyotas look really tough. The chevy 6.0 is a bulletproof, and time tested engine. They all do the same, they all cost about the same, they all haul the same, they all get about the same mileage... really, it's just preference.

Had a couple of Fords when I was younger and they were always breaking down. Currently have a Chevy and its the best truck I've owned. I have a buddy with a Dodge and its been a great one for him.

Issue resolved then. If that's what you like, don't get others opinions, just do it. I've driven them all and each has its perks.

My mom owns a Titan. It's a nice truck but drinks the gas. I don't know what the claimed mpg is, but I get about 12 mpg every time I use. Love the truck but its not something I'd buy due to the fuel economy. If looks are important, I'd probably lean towards the Ford. All have pros and cons.

As far as Fords throw everything out the window prior to 2011. 2011 trucks and newer have many different features and engines from the 2010's and older. I myself have always been a Ford guy but couldn't stand what Ford built for trucks gas mileage and power wise the last 5 to 6 years. My 2011 6.2 gas I recently bought has been everything It's suppose to be and then some. Love the truck!!

If I was to try out a different truck It would be a Dodge. I think their a great truck!

Yeah that's what I would get to, the 5.0. It produces 360 HP. I have the 2007 5.4 and I think it produces only like 300. That's a pretty big jump. I average at about 15-18 mpg.

I liked the Tacoma too. The look on it is nice and if I had to switch to a mid-sized truck I think I'd go with a Tacoma, but I tend to use my truck for a lot of towing, hauling, work around the house, and I don't like how mid-sized trucks are on wet or snowy roads. The biggest problem I have with smaller trucks though are the lack of room if you have a crowd with you. I usually take 2 other people with my wife and I when I go somewhere and the lack of full back seat in the back I don't like. Does your Tacoma have the full back seat? I've never really been in an extended cab Tacoma.

Yeah I feel the same way about the Titan. I like the look too, but it tends to be a big smaller than the other full sized trucks.

I haven't been in the new Rams, but just like the Titan it tends to look like when the new Rams are sitting beside an F150 or Silverado that it's a bit smaller in the comparison. In 2006 it kind of looked like the biggest truck in the front. I hear the newer Rams are the most comfortable trucks.

The prices on the Silverado is what I stay away from. I have a friend that just financed one for $44,000.00. I don't buy new very often, but I don't really like to spend more than 25k-30k on a truck.

    [/quote]

That's how I feel. My favorite of the lineup would be the F150, but all of them are great vehicles and for the right price I'd buy any of them. I don't have a least favorite. I like them all about the same. I'd rather have any truck on the road than a car though. :P

This is a discussion on trucks and what people like about other trucks. There are bow topics just the same. It's an opinion thread. I always like to hear opinions other than my own.

This is what you NEED to read right hear!!!

I have a '99 2500 4x4 Quad Cab w/ a Cummins and a 5-speed, stock, I got about 17.5-18 mpg, with some upgrades... open exhaust, opened up air intake, upgraded fuel pumps and injection pump (the 2nd series Dodge Cummins trucks had a lot of injection pump issues, those were fixed in 2003), and a programmer, I now get 20+ whether I'm driving in town or on the highway, and have a blueprinted 530HP to the rear wheels with somewhere around 1100 ft/#'s of torque on my highest setting though I generally run it on the setting that is only pushing 440hp and about 950ft/# of torque..... I've NEVER had to downshift going up a mountain, and that is ANY mountain even going as high as 11,000ft in elevation and on over 10% grades, unless I'm going DOWNHILL, then the power in the engine brakes the truck remarkably saving your brakes for when you need them!!!! And NOTE that Troy is getting that sort of mileage in Idaho, not Alabama!!! :tu:

Neither the PowerCHOKE, or the Duramax can touch the Cummins for power or mileage, especially if you start towing!!! I pulled over 11000# (camper, bike, generator, beer coolers, etc, etc) to Sturgis one a roughly 2800 mile trip to and fro, and averaged 15.5mpg!!!
