Saw these on another hunting website and they look very intruging. The only thing that may be annoying is trying to find the thing after a passthrough. Check them out on this website: http://www.starrflight.com/ Has anyone tried these?
I agree that they are very "unconventional" looking but I like the concept and several reviews said they stabilize fixed broadheads very well. It makes the arrow look kinda like a high-tech missile, like something the airforce would use to take out an Al-Qaeda training compound
I know a couple guys who shoot the FOBs. They're always breaking them when target practicing with the other arrows but other than that they work great.
They have been around for a good while now. I tested some years back and they do an awesome job stabling broadheads. I even shot 125 grain Gobbler Guillotines with them and they flew great. They do make some noise in flight but not enough to really matter. They do buck cross winds better than most fletchings but because of the high rate of spin they do drop faster than arrows with plastic vanes once you get out to 40+ yards. I do agree they are very unconventional looking but they do work and work well. Biggest problem I had with them, besides looks, is that since they sit all the way on the back of the shaft, they touch your face at full draw. Not a big deal but felt kinda uncomfortable.
Yeah, I'm assuming you would need some sort of fall away rest, which I'm not a big fan of in hunting situations. I like the arrow to be locked on the rest.
I checked it out, and it seems like a neat idea. Some reviewers seem to have issues with it breaking. Any concerns on your end? Seemed to have lots of little parts (Keeping in mind I am a Marine. So by default, I'm not overly intelligent, and I'm pretty rough on gear)
