Here in my county of mo. landowner's own the ground and the state owns the water. this is a small river/stream that is not navigable... you could be legal if you were in a boat but there is no way to get into this water without trespassing on private property to get into the water.

sheriffs only last one term in office here seems the voting public gets there fill of each guy, I sure he knows what he could prosecute for and what he couldn't and with broken clay birds on the ground and spent shotshells there is nothing they can do about someone that was trespassing that got rained on. I have been shooting clays for a few years now but i dont like doing it were i am trying to bowhunt ,it just sucks... five years ago we had 150-200 class deer using are fields during the daylight and now your lucky to get a trailcam pic at night of a big boy.

I have people steal my stands, trailcams,Indian artifacts, gas, chains, poach deer, damage tractors, and now there driving over my crops! something has got to go my way here sometime.

Here is how you handle it! Take your camera with you at all times. When you see them get a good shot of the face and some of the background that way the picture can be show to be at that location. Then you file a report for the violation. If nothing is done then you send a letter to the sheriff and make a copy for yourself of the situation. If that does not help then put an artilcle in the paper with this picture for asking someone to verify who this person is and why you need it. Make it known that the sheriffs department did nothing for you. Make sure you follow all your steps with the department before you make news waves. The Sheriffs usually dont want their names out there in the news on bad things around voting time. Like one of the guys said before me about the video, that also is a very good way.

That's tough to hear. Part of me would want to build a few bear pits but I know that would likely lead to more problems. Hopefully something will change for the better. All any of us can really do is be thankful for the blessings we do have and manage our struggles the best we can. I hope everything works out for you.

make them a deal with a contract that they are allowed to ride there only at certain times and only them. Let them know that they are now responsible leagally for any misuse or damage to the property and that they need to help you keep it private. Sometimes we just have to give in a bit to get what we really want. It wouldn't be long before they broke your contract then they will have been legally trepassed from the property which can bring jail time.

you shouldnt have to make deals w/ folks who have no business on your land i'd tell them once and after that i'd pepper thier as' w/ rock salt.

Had a talk with the sheriffs office again today and they are useless..... and also talked to the gw a minute ago. He is coming out in the morning and look at my crops and is going to follow the trails to where they lead but he told me again that unless he catches them in the act that i can forget about the crop damage. But he did say he will get his message thru ... but i dont have my hopes up.

also i am going to put a trail cam about 10 feet up in a tree on the trial where they are crossing over the property line and try to get some pics and try and solve it that way,

the next door neighbor is a farmer and i hope when someone takes out part of his corn he gets the same satisfaction from the cops/gw as i have been getting since they atv rider's are coming thru his ground and one of them is his boy,
But i am thinking crop circles at this point.

Screw that is right. It's punks like this that need to be stopped now, or they just keep doing what they're doing. No deals! I'd go with the spikes and nails in 2x4s. At least you can make it expensive for them.

I'm more along the lines of this type of thinking be it good or bad. Just pull the biggest one in the group off his 4 wheeler and bust him in the head a couple of times. (note: sometimes this method can be painfull if event turns in tresspasser's favor) not likely though if hes choking on his front teeth.

Your state must be different. That's their job here and should be as far as I'm concerned.

By the sounds of It these Law Enforcement officials are worthless and don't wanna do their job. If It was me I'd tell the officials next time I see these trespassers my gun Is coming out and maybe that will get their attention. After all It Is your land. What's the difference between trespassers coming to your house or your hunting land? No difference to me. It's still yours and you have every right to protect It.

well being on both sides of the law.id say dont get into a battle. your out numbered.also are you an "outsider"to the area?some folks just dont believe in property lines when theyve been in an area for hundreds of years.have you tried the state police?you might have to go over the locals because it might be there buddies to start with.under no curcumstances do you want to put up clothes lines or cables across the travel lanes.you can be sued for that if someone gets injured or killed even if there in the wrong.but i would try to video tape these tresspassers in the act.good luck.

They do in the west and it seems to work quite well. Course out west you loose your weapon, wheels and some money...that approach would be welcomed in my area.

PS. lines like fishing line, clothes lines, etc open you up for litigation, even though they are trespassing. Check with your local laws but usually not worth the retainer fees.

i have a friend who had a issue with four wheeler tresspassers he put out some 2x4 studs with nails in them around the fences of his property. when they drove in there tires went flat. the idiots called the cops to file a complaint and were arrested for tresspassing because there quads were stuck on his property, proving they were there. and had no rights to be. that stopped them from returning the tires must be expensive.

In Pa, tresspassing is a Police concern, not a Game Comm or DCNR issue.

trespassing to hunt or fish is a GW issue. anything else is the sheriff dept. you could also swear out a warrant for trespassing. i'd have a witness with me though. but the best is the video/photographic evidence. whatever violence is not the way and trying to explain to a jury why someone is dead or seriously injured bc you injured them for riding an atv on your property probably gonna fly. i know its frustrating but you have to be the bigger man/woman and handle it like an adult
