looking at getting lighted nocks. just wondering if a extra 10 or 15 grains will affect my arrow in any way? or will i have to maybe adjust my sight a little? or will it be fine as is? thanks
It will absolutely effect it. Regardless of how slight any change may seem it will always effect arrow flight. Now will it be noticable to you will all depend. Wont know till you start shooting. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Alright thanks for the help. ill probably wait till after the season since im all dialed in and i dont want to mess with anything.
I didn't notice a change in my arrow flight. But my final sighting in etc before season has not taken place yet.
The weight is more like 20 to 30 grains depending on the maker. that being said I only noticed a difference at 45. It was two inches low. Don't really mind...especially if a they try and jump the sting. 35 and under you wont notice and it is really nice not having to search for the arrow. Great knowing exactly where you hit. I use the Nockturnal.
I was looking at the lumenok and i shoot with the easton super 3d nock now and i think it weighs about 13 or 14 grains. so the lumenok would be around 27 so add another 13 on what i have now.
Check out this article written by Justin Zarr. It may help you on your decision. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/2012/8/27/lighted-nocks-which-is-right-for-you/ Good Luck!
I shot a regular CX nock and a Nockturnal S side by side and out to 30 yards there was absolutely no difference in impact point. The difference in weight is about 14 grains. Like others have said at longer ranges you may see a slight drop.
I thought id bring this back since i got my bow sighted in with my lumenoks and i will be going to a 3D shoot next weekend so i am going to change back to the original nocks. How much of change in yardage did you guys see when switching nocks.?
I shoot nocturnals during the hunting season and switch back to x nocks in the offseason. You probably won't find anyone as picky as me about tuning and equipment, so I ran the numbers sever times....your looking at about 10 grains difference in weight, x nocks weight just under 10 grains and nocturnal x weight exactly 20 grains... For a 400 grain arrow that .025% difference in weight. Have you checked the weight tolerances of the majority of shafts? Sound familiar? If you can see a difference in POI your a hell of a better shooter then 99 percent of us out there... For all practical purposes there isn't enough difference to worry about. Equating 10 grains too an additional 2" at 40 yards is.....you fill in the blank.
My nocks are a little bigger difference. More like 17 or 18 grain difference. Ive seen the weight tolerance on the specs of the arrow just not sure on the exact meaning.
What he said...I shoot Nockturnals as well. Out to 40 yards I cant tell any difference in mine. The Nockturnals are the best lighted nocks that I have found...but that is my opinion....lol. I don't waste my money on lumanocks anymore. I shoot the same arrows as you. Your nocks are 10 grains. The Nockturnal s jock is 20 grains http://www.carbonexpressarrows.com/archery/hunting-arrows/mayhem
Thanks for the reply. I really like the Lumenoks Ill test out the regular nocks out later in the week. Hopefully I dont see a big difference if any at all.
I think they weigh about 27 grains so only 7 more than nockturnals. Im just wanting to make sure with this because i dont want to be shooting my lighted nocks while at 3D shoots. I just wanted to make sure my bow was sighted in for my hunting set up.
