I know Hooyman makes a good tree saw, but are there any good, cheaper alternatives?

Why buy cheaper you will be replacing it every few uses. Spend a few extra bucks and get a Wicked Saw!

I agree with the Wicked Saw. I received a Hooyman for Christmas a couple of years ago and it just didn't hold up. It was used once and absolutely came apart. I was really disappointed with it's quality. Would have sent it back to see if they would take care of it but had actually had it for quite awhile before it was ever even used. With my luck I probably got the only lemon they've ever produced.

Wicked is where its at! Expensive but you will get years of use out of it! Great product and customer service (although I doubt you will ever need it). Bought a Hooyman last year and one of the plastic clips broke on its 3rd use. Contacted Hooyman for a replacement and they wanted me to send the saw back to them for replacement. I needed a saw ASAP. Ended up taking it back to Cabelas for a refund.

I may have to save up for one of these wicked saws. The saw that I have been using is like a wet noodle when it is extended. Very tiring to cut with.

X2... I have a Fiskars tree pruner. I even leave mine in the woods buried in the leaves by my stand. it's been there 3 years with just a little rust on the blade. it even has both the blade for sawing and the nippers with the rope for smaller stuff.

Extendable Tree Pruner (7'?12') / Products - Buy Online (Price $37.99) | Fiskars

why would I want to pay more $$$ for something marketed directly at hunters?

I heard the wicked saws are awesome but my hooyman does just fine for my uses. Pre season trimming I use a power saw anyway
