Explosion near Bostom Marathon finish line

So sad........

 

Jeez now they are saying they found a 3rd one that was detonated on purpose. So how many are really out there? This is scary, the not knowing what else is out there.

 

A remote bomb attack on innocent people is about one of the most cowardly acts I can think of!!

 

The third one was a controlled det. There was a suspicious bag in the area so the bomb squad had a control det (which is weird why they'd have a controlled det near a bunch of people) But this is what I have read on a couple of sites, this information could be wrong.

 

Yeah i have no clue at this point. I guess we will find out in a couple days after they have time to sort some stuff out.

 

I imagine it would be real hard to secure close to 30 miles for a race.

 

I meant at the finish line.

 

Even though there's security at the area (you can see quiet a few Boston PD in green) it's really hard to be vigilant of every individual--especially at the exciting portion of the race; when people are finishing.

Edit: Keep in mind there's also a city to be patrolled, too.

Thanks for the update. There's nothing about a controlled det so scratch what I hate stated earlier.

 

The police commissioner for BPD said there was the two at finish line and one at JFK libary plus controlled det.

 

Just heard they think the jfk explosion was totally unrelated and a possible mechanical malfunction?

When the first explosions came in they said it was gas leak explosion, so if this is true that its not related its the worst timing possible for it to happen. Like it would be awful timing if it was a gas explosion at the finish line.

One of the dead is an 8 yo child.

 

I'm signed up to volunteer at the finish line of the Pittsburgh marathon in 3 weeks.
Being a runner, having done a couple marathons, and having lots of runner friends this has hit me hard and deeply saddens me.

 

This makes me sick to my stomache. Another cowardly act with children among the victims. If I lived out East right now, I would never be comfortable.

 

Not to down play any of this but wonder why thd ny post is only ones I've seen saying 12 have died. Either way any is to many.
