Know several guys that were running today from our local running club. Kinda freaking out right now.

WTF? I have few friends that run it every year. Hope they are alright. Will have to make a few quick phone calls.

I want to respond on emotion, but it's probably best that I don't. Prayers are with those affected and their families.

Scratch that....not confirmed...no reason to spread rumors.

My cousin finished around 1:45pm and her mom was waiting near the finish line. Both are fine. Hope everything is ok with your buddies Hook.

This same cousin was a senior at VT when the shooting took place there, she's quite lucky.

I read they were a second or two apart, which leads me to think it was an echo from the buildings.

Wow. I really hope there are no casualties from this.
Is this rally going to be the norm here now

Such a sad situation, thoughts and prayers to those injured.

Just a side note. I'm not a runner, and have never attended anything like this. Isn't there alot of security at these events? Not point blame, just asking why that area isn't closely guarded.

How tragic! My sympathies and condolences to those affected by this. What a shame. I certainly hope they catch those cowardly scumbags involved and justice is served.

I've never ran one near as big as Boston, but I would assume security is good, but not great.

The largest I've ran is NOLA, and anyone could walk just right up to the finish line. At Boston, I'm pretty sure you had to have tickets to be near the finish, but apparently it was a trash can bomb. It could have been placed there the day before.

Thank God my wife wasn't running, she thought about doing the Boston when she qualified last fall. We have several friends that ran, and we have friends and colleagues that attend the race and live in the area. We are still waiting for any news and praying.
