BH's and FP's are hitting together. I figured I'd shoot the bareshaft once my FPs and BHs hit together. When I shoot a bareshaft (same tip weight, etc), the arrow goes crazy before hitting the target. It gets almost sideways or level (tip on the left and nock on the right.) The bareshaft hit way left of the target about a foot...which actually means the arrow completely missed the target. Any ideas? I surely don't want to leave this be although the BHs and FPs are hitting together. Well, I've only tried them at 20 yards so I'm not even sure if they'd hit together at 30 or 40 yards. But if they did....what would cause this?
What kind of arrow are you shooting? I shot my CX piledriver (350g) bareshaft and it flew straight.....maybe its weight tho
Could be a week spine , how is your center shot ? sometimes vanes will correct a issue one doesnt see till a bare shaft tells ya there may still be a tuning problem somewhere .
Sorry, I left a few things out. I typically shoot Gold Tip XT 5575’s but today I was trying some Beman ICS Hunters (.400 spine). They are 29” long with 100 grain tips. Their FOC is 11.6 %. Everything I know tells me that if the bareshaft or the BH arrows are contacting left from the FPs…then it is a stiff spine. I increased the weight to almost 70 and the same still occurred. I also tried moving my rest to the right AND left. I am not sold it is my centershot. I swear it looks like the arrow is on a straight path and then all of sudden goes crazy.
Try a 75 grain tip and mabe with a lighted nock for sh!ts and giggles and see what happens with a lower FOC with the bare shaft , whats your FOC of the bare shaft with the 100gr head ? that might be whats whipping your arrows around .
Are you shooting bare shafts with just one arrow or a couple different arrows? If only one could that particular arrow be a dud?
If i remember correctly a few years back i had the same situation and i believe it was the high FOC of the bare shaft causing it , i'm running 12.4 % with no issues , tomorrow i'll throw a bare shaft down range and see what happens with that FOC and let ya know .
Good point. The same thing happened last night when I shot of the Gold Tips. The only difference is about an inch between the two arrows. Ha..that is what I'm trying to achieve. I was pleasantly surprised when I completed setting up the bow yesterday and shot FPs and BHs so close together. Just a few days ago, I took the bow completely apart (limbs off, cams & axles lubed) and replaced the strings & cables. It was some much overdo maintenance. I just had to go and screw it up by shooting that bareshaft. Cool...thanks Hoosier. I'm curious what you'll report back with.
now I am no techie, but I would think a LOW FOC would cause this ... not the other way around????? TFox, Bruce, RickJames.... HELP
