Went to buy airline tickets today and had a WTF moment. May plane ticket to southern Texas $663.20. June plane ticket to Vermont $505.00. July ticket to southern Texas with layover in Houston $548.00. I get a message from the government that they are moving the class to Houston. I get back on (had not made reservations yet), and a ticket to Houston is $715.00 or I can still buy the ticket to southern texas with the layover in Houston for $548........
Availability, over booked and possible weekend travel time. considering I'm taking flying lessons, at a reduced rate thank god! To fly from Blacksburg to Memphis in a Cirrus SR22 will take 2 1/2 hours and the fuel for the trip will be $5.80 for Avgas a gallon it will take about 15 gallons. From here to Florida just under 2 hours at 10 gallons. I maybe off a gallon or two still learning. Refuel at the small airports it will be free to leave the plane there for upward to 4 days and $5.00 each day afterward. Major airports it will cost you upward to $8.00 a day. Draw backs learning to fly, buying the plane or renting it. Buying a used Cirrus can run you from $100,000 used to $750,000 new. Then there storage $50.00 a month hangar fees. Pluses you go where you want when you want when weather permits and the type license you have. You can drive right up to your plane. You're the Capt. What you say goes. It's your world...
There is no rational explanation for airline prices. They sell tickets at whatever price they f@#$ing feel like.
