I'd gladly take you up on a hunt, because that is the mentality that I can come home happy with either way. You can tell when when some is genuine, or you are just getting shuffled through.

I am seriously considering it. I think it would be fun to offer someone an opportunity to see and possibly shoot a buck that is bigger than anything they could ever kill where they live. Schultzy sat on one of my properties this year for just one evening and passed three different P&Y bucks and saw a Booner 10 pt. The biggest one he passed was a 140's. I cant imagine anyone being too disappointed in that kind of hunting. I think where most outfitters get into a jam is when they are trying to make a living at it and they have to put too much pressure on the ground they have.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of ****ty outfitters out there. Sounds like you found one.

When I was in the outfitting business, I made sure everyone had the kind of experience they were looking for. Well, almost everyone. Some people are impossible to please. The only thing that ever really bothered me was when a client tried telling me how to run the operation. Some people think they know what's going on on the land better than the owner of the operation. They think the outfitter is a genie and can magically make animals appear. (note: I'm not accusing you of this)

Let me ask one question though. Why would you pick this time of the year for a ML hunt? Its post-rut, seasons have been open for awhile and I assume gun season had been open before this too. Unless its in Canada where late November is great hunting or Iowa late ML season, I'm not going on an outfitted hunt unless its either the first couple weeks of the season or during the rut.

Dan I am pretty sure the hunt took place during Ohio' s week long first gun season..."shotgun season" as it's called by most. MZ are legal during that season. Ohio's official Muzzleloader season is a 4 day season that takes place the first week of Jan...I have hunted that season and its purely weather dependent, if it super cold and snowy your good as gold...if the highs go upper 30's....or higher...stay home.

Ok, so take out my statement about gun season being open before this and the rest of my statement still stands.

Also, I would probably hunt about anywhere in late December/Early January.

I am with you there. in the rare years we dont fill our ohio buck tag late Oct or early Nov we make the trip, bow season is also still open there at that time.....holidays are done and you have new 4 day deer season in Jan.....Its a good hunt when there is little else to do. Jan in Ohio is a tad bit weather friendlier then the my part of NY at that time of the year.

Dan- Trial is correct. This was the first gun season and the only opening he had for this year. When i first contacted him he had 2 openings late season and 2 for the first gun season. My first choice was late season and i offered to send a deposit but i was told that it'd still be open for a month from the time of this conversation. I wanted my Dad to go, he's disabled and i was waiting to see if i could get enough side work to afford him to go as well. When i called back to book, he only had 1 opening. I asked the guide, from a working man to working man should i wait until 2013 for a late season hunt. He said with my expectations being so low, 130", it should not be any issue seeing several in that range.

Fletch if you ever decided to offer anything, I'd love the opportunity. Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone for understanding where i'm coming from. This was not my first out of state hunt, I went to Kentucky with GMMAT & Aaron 3 years ago, traveled Ill. with Andy of Ultimate Camo last year, I was on a heavily managed lease in southern OH 2 years ago where a the lease expectations were a little higher than my personal. I say all that, to hopefully show you that I really wasn't looking for a canned experience. I'll continue to chase the critters as time and money allows.
