    Clearly there are many work places that do not honor our right to defend ourselves. So, here's the question. How do we have a civilized, informative discussion with our employers about getting it changed?

    You would probably have to start with why you feel threatened enough at your workplace that you feel a need to be armed.

    Zero chance of that here. We are a large global company where the policies are set so far beyond the walls of this building. We have to take "training" and uphold policies that don't even relate to what our actual business is or is meaningful to our job function in any way.
