Right now I'm "training" for a wilderness guys camp that I'm going to in the end of July.My schedule is; Monday-Thursday;6 mile run after school and after I run I'll do some varied calisthenics exercises for about 30 min. Fri-sat;I hit the gym and use free weights and do some benching, squats, curls, etc for a minimum of an hour. Sunday;supposed to be a refuel/rest day but sometimes if I'm feeling really good I'll go for a quick 2 mile run in the evening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure how you guys can run for 6 miles. "Quick 2 mile run." I would be dead. I HATE/suck long distance running.
Its all about how bad you want something. I hate running too but my desire to be able to chase elk in the mountains is soo much stronger. You can never be in good enough shape for western hunting so it just comes down to what you want. One of my football coaches always said that we have to be able to push ourselves to that dark place so that on game night your the team celebrating under the lights. I think that carries over into almost everything in life but especially training for western hunts. I'm to the point now where I can't wait to push myself to that point, cause I know what that will earn me in Montana. It's almost addicting once you get over the first hump. You'd be surprised what your body can do if you push it! My record is 8 miles and I was 225 and certainly not built like a runner!!
I'm not actually running straight for 6 miles,it's more like run for 1 1/2 mile, walk for 200 yards, run again. If I ran 6 straight miles I would be dead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I HATE running. I'm a bicycle rider (roadie) and last year was a slow year so I only rode 4500 miles outdoors. (I ride for at least a half an hour 5 days a week on an indoors trainer if the weather is nasty) As I'm "maturing" (and not very well at that!) I find that also even as much as I hate lifting weights, if I don't at least do three or four 10 rep curl sets, I can't do what I need to do at work, so I throw that in too. Last fall when I hit the mountains in Southern Idaho, fortunately for me, I had spent at least a half an hour run/walking four days a week and I was able to make it happen. I hiked/ran 8 miles to catch up to a moving elk herd to fill my cow tag. So as I sit here and type, all freshly showered after a long half hour on my trainer, I'm gladly dreaming of hitting those hills again this fall.
The fact that you can run for 1 1/2 miles is impressive. As I said... I HATE running. I hit the elliptical for 30 minutes to an hour each day and that's enough cardio for me.
I started my spring workouts just the other day, lugging a bladder bag, a ryno tool and chainsaw thru the hummocks and deadfall trying to catch a fire. I still got it. Not sure I am ready for 2-3 fires a day but I will get there.
I just started with the whole getting off my a$$ thing. I'm following a running training app called Couch to 5k. Week one is done and complete. I'm alternating my days between running and shooting practice. Might add some kind of weight training to the mix soon too. Sent from my VS500 using Tapatalk
Started at 171 on 2/20 and I was at 160 yesterday. It's the weekend and here I am drinkin cheap beers and eating deep fried fish we caught this winter. Lot of work for me this week before I leave for Mexico next Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had a rough weekend, being single does not agree with my weight loss plan! 2 mugs and 2 buds on wednesday, big steak dinner and two tall beers friday, 3 craft beers and 5 rum and cokes saturday... was at 222.5 last week and weighed in at 225 this am... Back on the grind today I spose
Don't let a slip become a fall. Get back on the horse! Good luck. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Thank you! I will be back at it this week! I have great motivation for getting in shape! 1) I'm going elk hunting with my bow and mule deer hunting with my rifle this fall, both in Montana so I will need to be in the best shape of my life! 2) Doesn't hurt to have a 6-pack when your single
I think I am working on 5 consecutive meals in a resturant and will be out of town till Thursday night, sucks staying in a hotel. Pretty sure I will gain 5 pounds this week.
I used to be the guy that always got a burger and fries but recently I started mixing in a wrap or something if I know I'm eating out a lot in a week. Chicken Caesar was pretty good too!
I had a tiger roll with shrimp and salmon last night a tomato salad for lunch. I had to have a gyro yesterday at my favorite airport restraunt in Salt Lake City. Thing that sucks is eating late and sitting in a hotel room, at home I try to stay on my feet doing stuff till dark.
Next trip is to Saipan, much healthier eating grilled fish and sushi rolls, snorkeling when I am not working. Won't gain weight on that trip.
