    Hows the prep coming along?

Great thread glad to see so many guys interested in the heath/fitness thing.

I cleaned up my act on Dec 14 2009. I went from 215 to 170 doing p90x, insanity and counting calories.. Presently sitting at 175 with plans of being 165 for my beach vacation in August. I currently train 5-6 days a week. I do 20-30 minutes of fasted cardio/HIIT in the morning and run a three day split at the gym(Anterior, posterior,Legs). I still count calories and target 1g protein/lb of body weight.

I still run bulk/cut cycles but my bulks aren't crazy and I typically only gain 10-15 lbs. Otherwise I just feel like I'm in a caloric deficit all the time.

I find myself buying only brooks and asics now. Your best bet though is to go to a running store and let them help you, bring a older pair of shoes so they can see the wear patterns and they can give you some choices based on what they see as the type of shoe you need.

I've been running for years and trust me, the right shoe should be your biggest priority for running gear.

Well got an app that counts your steps so I turned it on while I was at work and while I was jogging.
I was very surprised by what I saw when I checked it this evening.I thought it was pretty cool so I thought I'd share. This is with 3 miles of jogging and the rest just walking around at work. ImageUploadedByBowhunting.com Forums1465958326.483424.jpg

I rode 23 miles on my bicycle today. It seemed like most of it was uphill and against the wind. Of course, since it was not a loop I know that can't be true. Friday I will be doing a 5 mile hike into a mountain lake to go fishing. Backpack will be around 35 pounds. It may even be an area I go looking for elk in.

What do you do for work?

My iPhone tracks my steps and the most I've ever got was like 33,000 when I was on vacation in Las Vegas.

I occasionally will check my iphone for steps and even after running for 4 miles, I only average about 18,000 for the whole day.

    Exercise & Fitness Thread

My wife got me a fit bit. I think the most steps I have gotten is like 13,000. That was during spring turkey season.
I started using an elliptical, started around Easter, started with five minutes and added two minutes every week until I made it to 20. 32 miles per hour and the tension is set at 5. I've lost ten pounds so far. I noticed a big difference when I'm out scouting and walking up and down the hills.

I recently got the Garmin VivoSmart and I really like it. THe most I have ever gotten in a day was 28k when I went on a 10 mile hike in Colorado.

Haven't seen this thread in awhile. How's everyone doing on their workout routines? I've been hitting it hard the last couple weeks and now deciding to do 2 a days for a couple weeks at least before my CPAT test. I hit cardio in the morning and then weights in the afternoon. Trying to find an old backpack so I can put weight into while I'm on the dreaded stair stepper. Which is the worst part of the CPAT.

So it counted your "steps" while riding a mower?

Usually at least an hour a day on the elliptical when on the road.

At home 1-2hrs hiking usually with 60-80# pack and my trust side kick who is highly distracted by rabbits.[IMG]
