I do HIT twice a week. I do back/legs, or legs/arms. I can't do anything that puts a strain on my abs because of a hernia. Walking 2.5 miles at least 3 times a week too. Been doing this for a month now, and can already tell a huge difference in my stamina at the end of the workouts. I have hernia surgery May 11, and won't be able to lift anything(including shooting my bow) for a month. I'll still do the cardio after the first week... I hope to see a big difference in muscle tone by Labor day. I'm also on Atkins, and have lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks.

Not quite sprinting but close. Two years ago my older brother timothy ran a mile in 4 minutes and 30 some seconds, however he trained for two and a half months before he was able to do that.At the peak of his program he was jogging 6 miles a day 5 days a week.

Got a long way to go with my pushup goal of 30 pushups with 100 lbs on my back. I was only able to do 31 pushups with 70 obs this morning. Then for my 2nd set with 70 lbs I was only able to get 12 bc my chest was wrecked. Time to work harder!

I avoid running on pavement as much as possible. It is too hard on your knees even if you are healthy.

Im not doing it anymore. Being 230 lbs does not help either. Getting off that pavement and doing high intensity bodyweight and weightlifting circuits has really improved my cardio and leg strength without making my knee swell. I am sure sometime in the next decade I'll need a partial knee replacement on my left knee. Hoping to make it another 9 years to 50....darn football!

I'm going to tell our chief about the blast mask. May be worth looking into. Thanks!

No problem. They are a little expensive at almost $100 a piece. But it works really well. Especially if you don't have a full station to easily fill up empty bottles after training. This would cut that out and keep the packs in service.

Do they fit MSA or just Scott? We have a quick set up to fill bottles, but with how little our department is it would probably be easier to buy 2-3 of those. Thanks again. And it truly is a work out in turn out gear!

They have a version that will fit MSA so no problems there. Let me know if you guys get any or if you buy one yourself and how it works out for you. :tu:

Man we had one heck of a fire here last night. Some abandon house with ammunition and propane bottles exploding. We had to block off the roads while the tankers dumped water for hours. Fire spilled out into the woods as well. Much respect for firdfighters.

The men and women of the VFD's deserve the ultimate respect for their service giving up their time anytime day or night to answer the call, and many of the calls are service orientated like lift assists and other non emergency calls.

I work for our Paramedic service and then run volunteer with our local department. You'd be surprised how many people are ungrateful of our dedication. Then you have the state trying to get rid of volunteer ambulance services and making it all paid. Ugh.

But, to the thread. Anyone ever do the couch to 5K program?

Been on the elliptical for the last 2 weeks... Tried some jogging today. That's a big NOPE! No idea what is going on in there but it hurt after 5 minutes.

Getting closer to my goals. Did 30 pushups with 80lbs on my back today. 20 more lbs to go. After working out for a bit I did 13 pullups in a row. I think if I were fresh I could have hit 15 or so. I want to get to 20 so I need to focus even more.

Man being 41 makes getting quick gains tough. That and being 230lbs...ugh. Did 14 pullups in a row. I only gained one rep on the pullups the last 11 days. Have to keep a it if I want 20. Have work harder....and eat less food. Lol

    Nice! 14 pull-ups is quite a bit actually... I couldn't do it.

I'm really glad I got this gym membership before my trip to Mexico next week. I'm absolutely keeping the membership and will be focusing more on lifting than cardio. Love that it fits my schedule perfectly and it's just routine to go. I go before work so I just tell myself "time to go to work" an hour earlier than normal.

    Keep grinding it out everyone.

I rode my bicycle 20 miles today. Trying to build up my cardio and leg strength for elk season this fall. I plan to do a lot of hiking too.

Started today on a new plan...doing 3 exercises, repeatedly for x number of minutes, all body weight stuff. Ex. Today was pushup x10, air squat x10, crunch x10. I did 7 minutes today and got through 6 times. Took a 2 minute break then 10 burpees. I have a 5 day workout plan written out, plan to increase time to 10 mins, then continue up.

Felt good, got the heart rate up quickly.
