It was a lot muddier and a lot shorter ... I got on the FB page climbing the wall at the end ( only dude without a shirt). It was easy as hell though like 5 mi I barely broke a sweat it was muddy though !!
I just went through a recent breakup after 2 years and I never really worked out much before, but after the breakup I noticed the best way to feel better is to run my a$$ off or just work out. It makes me feel better health wise plus I know that my ex is drooling over me now. Even though I would never take her back, just knowing that she's more into me than her current boyfriend feels pretty good. She got me into running in the first place and I was running regularly but she wasn't. I paid for both of us to run the Spartan Race her in Pa and then she dumped me. So I got the registration transferred to one of my buddies and we both had a blast. I honestly don't think she would have been able to finish it. This was my first organized race/run of any kind. I had two goals when I was training for the Spartan Race. I wanted to finish and finish in under 2 hours. Well the breakup kind of derailed the training program I made for myself and I stopped training for about 3 weeks till about a week before the race. I ended up finishing 4th out of 1000 in the 20-24 year old age group and 57th out of 5000 total competitors. I finished the 4 mile race in 1 hour and 17 minutes and I couldn't have been happier. I had my "runners high" for at least 2 days after I finished the race. It was awesome. I know my ex has seen me having fun after we broke up and it's not sitting well with her, but she made her bed and she's going to have to sleep in it. I am signed up for the 9 mile Spartan Super in NJ in September and I cannot wait till it comes around. I ran the Electric Run in Philly two Saturdays ago and that was fun even though it got canceled when I was half way through it. They are putting it on again and I can run it again for free. So I have a bunch of races planned for the next couple months and I have been trying to run 5 miles everyday, I don't get to go out everyday like I really want to, but at least 5 days a week. I started going to the gym after we broke up and one of the trainers showed me the TRX suspension training system and I really like it. I like how it is so simple but works out your whole body depending on what workout your doing, plus its really portable. I actually bought one because I am going to Costa Rica in 2 weeks and its going with me. (Costa Rica is making the ex jealous also, another point for me) I also got another job that her and I were waiting to hear about for a long time. I got that about a month after we broke up also. Another nail in the coffin for her. So everything is falling into place, new body, new career, new vacation, new me. And it feels great.
Good for you dgable! My husband and I are starting Jim Stoppani's Shortcut to Shred today. I'm excited. Amazing how much better you feel about yourself and life in general when working out.
Pretty awesome Lastone. I'll have to put some up from the Spartan Race. They have professional photographers and GoPros set up everywhere so they try and get a bunch of each competitor in the race.
Well it's been a while since I have been active in this thread. I want to give a little background first, followed by a confession and then a declaration. Back in 2008 I decided it was time to drop some weight some. I was over 240 and the heaviest I had ever been. Over the course of the next year I dropped 60 lbs and got down to 180. I was eating right and working out twice a day. I had a morning cardio routine and an afternoon weight session. I was really enjoying a new healthier me. In 2010 I started focusing more on weights and gained weight back and was back up to 200, but my weist was smaller. So my gains were muscle. Then last year I decided to return to school and get my BSEE. Over the course of the last year, I have picked up the old habits of eating quick easy food and using school as an excuse to not do any exercise. Since May 2012, I have put on a little over 30lbs and I am now sitting at 234. I am publicly declaring that I am going to eat healthy again and dedicate at least 30 min a day to some form of exercise. I know with a full time job and nearly full time school load that I will not be able to workout twice a day again, but 30 min should be an obtainable goal. I want to be back down below 210 before January. I am stating this publicly so that I am held accountable. I'm making the commitment, as of yesterday I'm back on the healthy lifestyle change.
Started back to the gym last night after being off a workout regimen for about 4/5 months. It kicked my butt! Hopefully this headache will go away before we go back tonight. It's hard to get back in the routine but so worth it.
Life gets in the way sometimes Phillip, you will get back down to where you were. School wrecks a lot of lifestyles. As for me, I am happily chugging along. Balancing strength & running. All my strength training is done with body weight moves. It's been a lot of fun and an interesting experience.
Ya I'm addicted one more please I'm starting a bib collection ! http://www.runningdirty.com/events/maryland-2013/
Anyone got any good easy/cheap but yet healthy meal ideas? Im a single guy that lives alone and don't like cooking large meals nor do I like spending tons on food! Im the type of guy that could eat a sandwich almost every meal because they are relatively cheap and very easy!
Actually the Running Dirty looks really fun. I might actually sign up for that in the NJ/NY/PA event. I started a run/race/obstacle course shrine at my house with my bibs, medals, t-shirts, trail maps and other memorabilia that I've collected at the races. It really is addicting.
Actually I cant do the NJ/NY/Pa one. I will be in Costa Rica when its going on. Ill have to make a road trip out of one and hit one going on down in Virginia.
I got up this morning before 6 and did some running. It was the first time I ran in 2 months. My time was 23:11 for three miles. :D That was actually my best time ever. I'm doing a 5k on Oct 26th so I gotta get ready for that.
I may get some flak for this, but this is a fitness thread. I'm one of those guys who has always been skinny. Blessed with a fast metabolism and the appetite to go with it. However I'm also somewhat taller (6'1 or so). People always say "Gee it must be great to be skinny." Well believe me, it's not all it's cracked up to be. I've been trying to put on weight for years, so I can play sports like hockey and lacrosse a little better. I also want to look a little thicker, because I think my arms look awkward. Finding clothing is also pretty difficult. As I've gotten older I've filled out a little, so I fit in medium shirts a little better, but usually they're still not long enough. Some companies do make medium-tall shirts and such, but usually sweatshirts and jackets aren't. And jeans? Forget finding something that will be long enough without being able to fit another one of me inside. Maybe designer stores would have more stuff in stock, but I don't make that kind of money/I would rather spend my money on a trip or someone else than on my clothing. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty healthy and I'd rather be this way than large and short. It's just frustrating at times. Currently I've had almost a month of working out at least once a week, running at least twice a week, and I even started taking vitamins. I do a little yoga and I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep. I think it's a good direction I'm headed and I'm excited to see where I am in 3 months.
