Just getting into bow hunting after 10 years. Just bought a Bear Archery Encounter. Can't wait to hit the range. Question though. What are some names of good practice arrows along with some hunting arrows you guys prefer to help me on my search? Also what about broadheads?

    Thank you,

    kyle

^what he said^ As for me, I buy a dozen if new arrows and I practice with 6 arrows and hunt with the other 6. This way you are shooting the same setup every time. And if you are using a NAP Killzone or Rage, your practice heads are the same size and weight as the broadheads you will be hunting with. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Bowhunting!!!

I agree with the above posts. Like SharpEyeSam said, you're gonna wanna practice with the same arrows you hunt with. Just designate some for practice and some for hunting. As for broadheads I can't speak for mechanicals, but I have been impressed with how SlickTricks fly. Best of luck!

    Excited - Answer!

    Kyle,
Easton Axis and Slick Trick BHs. Get 2 dozen and shoot like there ain't no tomorrow! Best to know your specifics prior to purchase. No less than 5 GPI per pound of draw weight. No target arrows bra- get hunting arrows and your set. Visit the pro shop or talk with the Tech's here.

Everyday is a good day ta sling arrows!

I started last year, I love bow hunting. Your going to have good time with your new bow. I didn't splurge on anything, I got some carbon express arrows ($45) for 6, Muzzy MX3 broad heads, and a pack of field points. I was very happy with those. This year I'm trying bloodline arrows, don't really care for them, they are not bad but were $10 more. Also have been using the Montec G5 broad head.
I liked the carbon express/Muzzy setup better. I like my fixed blades, everyone has their preference. Just find why you like. Shoot your bow and see what it's capabilities are. I have a PSE rally that came out the box with a sight, whisker bisket and quiver all for $300. The more I shoot the better I feel about it. I try to keep within 36 yards when hunting. I play around with 50 yards on target. I could go on longer but I think most have lost interest without a picture
    Sooooooo.......here's a picture of an antlered cat.[IMG]

Welcome. You will love the Bear Encounter. It's a great bow.
I shoot carbon express mayhem Hunter 350's with 100 grain g5 strikers out of mine. It works for me but the setups are endless.

Don't be afraid to buy some used stuff! Last year I upgraded nearly my entire setup (broadheads, arrows, rest, quiver) by buying items off of the archerytalk.com forum. All the purchases I made were safe and I got exactly what was promised. I would guess I bought all that stuff for 40% of the cost that it would have been new. Not sure if I'll ever go back to buying brand new stuff.
